I'[m into art and history and museums so I think Canberra is INCREDIBLY exciting...I suppose it depends on what excites you. |

I'd say she was drunk at the time, too.
Canberra is a lovely city but "exciting" is not an adjective I'd use to describe the place. |

I think the woman was either pulling your leg or drunk as well. Ok so Canberra is not as dead as some people claim. It certainly doesnt close down after 6pm i work in a book shop that doesnt even close till 8 or 9pm every night because there are people out and about at the cinema, dining out or up to other activities. Having said this i wouldnt be describing canberra as exciting to any of my friends or people i meet but that doesnt mean it doesnt have its own share of interesting activities. |

No it is not the most exciting city in Australia but it does have its own character and charm.
However, it is not true that everything closes at 6pm.How long ago have you been in Canberra, Frances M?
True, it is quieter in winter time but there are lots of places to go out ot at night now. It is NOT a big city like Sydney or Melbourne - and it never claimed to be as exciting as those cities. But it DOES have its own night life. |

Exciting? Depends on your definition. There's always plenty to do in Canberra.
It has the best lifestyle of any Australian city. That makes it the best city to live in Australia.
Better than Melboring anyday |

I'm from Canberra and I love it, but 'exciting' is not a word I would use. Civilised, intelligent, interesting (even fascinating) - any of those but, exciting? Drugs? Did you do a blood test?
Lots of things to do. It doesn't 'close at 6pm' as many claim but the interesting stuff to do is not obvious - great restaurants in hidden shopping centres. Manuka is the pic for these (if a bit 'Balmain'). |

That's not the words I'd use to describe it. An interesting fact is that Canberra has the highest number of nightclubs per the population than any other city in Australia but this still does not make it the most exciting place to be. I live there but have had better nights in other cities. I think this woman may have also been drunk... |

Either you are pulling it, or she was. The city closes down after 6pm. Not even milk bars are open. I admit there may be an underground culture that claims to come from Canberra, but it certainly is not in the city of Canberra that I know |

No it is not exciting unless politics or science or a few other matters are your scene. As far as nightlife is concerned, it has its moments but the actual adult population mostly could not give a stuff about that either. Like other towns throughout the world, it does not exist for the entertainment of those between 15 and 25. |

Canberran's might think so.
Just like I - a brisbaneite - thinks Brisbane (BRISVEGAS!) is the most exciting city in AU.
Its all a matter of opinion I think. |

YOU were drunk? I should think she was totally out of her head in more ways than one! Or she actually meant to say "Sydney" or "Melbourne". |

Speaking as 23yo who's been living in Canberra for 18 months now, I love it here. A bit cold for a natural born Queenslander, but not pretentious and the people here are mostly very friendly. I've never played so much sport or socialised with so many people in my life. Of course, I was a grad last year with 39 others and we did a lot of our own partying, and that definitely had something to do with it. The biggest problem with Canberra is that I still haven't found a club that plays consistently good and mixed music. It's all one style or nothing here. |

She was obviously being sarcastic because Canberra is not even a little bit exciting. There are lots of museums to look at during the day but at night it's the movies or nothing.

But Why??
