No, in Australia we do not feel the need to celebrate a Celtic New Year or to place candles in pumpkins. I think we should all revert back to the original turnip myself.
I do find it funny though that we choose not to celebrate Halloween, but go all out on Saint Patrick’s day!! Call me cynical but I think it’s all to do with the beer!! |

Not really...it's an American custom not an Australian one.
Some kids might do it though...more about the prospect of obtaining lollies through trick or treating rather than any serious observance of the holiday.

it is not recognised celebration here in oz, but people do have parties, we've personally only had a handful of trick or treaters over the past ten years. our shops do stock halloween merchandise. |

Not really.
People might have costume parties but we don't 'celebrate' it, and trick or treating is rare to non-existant here.
Unless the pollies make it a public holiday (not gonna happen). |

The USA is virtually the only place on the planet where anyone takes any notice at all except perhaps Germany. Stores here are promoting trash to sell to kids and so I suppose we will have the damn thing thrust upon us whether we want it or not. |

I went trick or treating when I was little, but you might only get one or two groups of people knocking on your door at most, if any these days. Theres not much point doing it cause most people won't have lollies to give them.
So not really no.
I have always wanted to carve a pumpkin though, I might get around to it one year too! |

not really. i live in Tassie and its not that popular here. but when i was in qld last year during halloween there was a few halloween things for sale in the shops.

Yes, but its not really much fun because everyone dresses as a kangaroo. Hundreds of people dressed as a kangaroo hoping into each other spilling candy and yelling, "Trick or Treat, Mate" It is not pretty. Hope this helps. |

You're all just jealous!! It's great as a kid. You get to dress up as your favourite character, cause mischeif and get lots of candy. As an adult it's a good excuse to dress up and party. |
