There's a million people in Perth so it doesn't really feel isolated, you only notice it when you need a specialist product or service that Perth doesn't have.
I've lived in Perth all my life so I am probably biased but I think it is pretty good. |

Perth is a really lovely city, it's the capital of WA, perhaps your friend lives in an outer suburb & just feels lonely. |

What's your friend on! It's Great!!
I love it!
beach at your doorstep,
very friendly vocals,
sunniest capital city in the world,
I have lived here my whole life and never felt isolated or bored, everything you need plus more. we are only isolated is you compare as to the other capital cities in Australia. Perth is closer to Jakarta than it is to Sydney, but that's why so many people love it and you would never notice how far away we are untill you looked at a map. so much to see and do, with a 12,000 km coast line. I'm glad our little clean city is not well know or famous but it is now the fastest growing city in Australia - now that's got to mean something.
There is nothing i don't like about Perth is an absolatly amazing city and i wouldn't want to live anywhere else. There was a survay and perth residents were voted the friendliest in the country. It was also rated the 4th most livable city in the world! Living in Perth is great, its one of Australia's best kept secrets even from Australia itself.
In answer to your question: NO
Edit: Go away you idiot! / / |

Perth is a city with over a million people so you will never feel isolated at all. Not to sound biased at all, but I have lived in Perth and visited the United Kingdom, France and Italy, and visiting these places only makes me appreciate Perth all the more.
You may like to know that The Economist's World's Most Livable Cities 2008 voted Perth, Australia as the forth most livable city in the world. The people are great, the weather is great, the beaches are great, and there is plenty to do. |

No Perth really is that GOOD. Perth is a lovely, clean, friendly and pretty city. Its not a big city and yes we are isolated from the rest of Australia by a few thousand kilometres but that just adds to its beauty.
Perth is like the unspoilt child while the other bigger cities are more like a spoilt brat. I have lived in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Believe me Perth is better thatn any of them.
We have less people, less pollution, less crime. less cars and have a real laid back sort of attitude. The pace of life is slower and more relaxed over here.
We are not perfect. We do lose out sometimes when it comes to big name entertainment or sporting events and we do at times have problems with hoons and others but those sorts of things can be expected in any city.
We also have mile upon mile of pristine beaches, unspoiled bush and world class tourist attractions.
I think perhaps your friend has not made the effort to appreciate her surroundings. She should get out make some new friends and involve herself in the community. Maybe she is lonely and homesick for her former home. She needs to stop feeling sorry for herself and get out and get going. Im sure she can find something she likes. |

I love perth, how can your friend hate it?
Its not really that isolated -- well compared to the rest of australia it is a bit, but it has great weather & has a good history. |

nah, it's not that bad. it is a bit isolated to compared to other places, but i don't see why that's a problem.
i love it here, and would never move, however my friend hates it and wants to move to a bigger city somewhere else - she likes going to concerts and none of her favourite bands come over here. that's her only problem with it though.
so the answer to your question is
no |

depends where your friend lives
the outer suburbs can be very lonely and lower class but we have some great areas with a lot going on.
although if your friend is from somewhere super busy originally then i can understand how she feels |

I don't know why she'd hate it. Did she move to Perth? Most locals love it, including myself. Yeah, it is pretty isolated but that's what makes it such a great community, i'd like to think that the people are more laid back and less driven by their work. I love it! |

Hey not getting at the other answerers but Perth is not That great....
I was born and raised there. I have also lived overseas and other parts of Oz and though there are many things that I miss about Perth there are many things that are wrong with Perth. The first time I came home after living overseas I was shocked with the narrow minded, racist attitude that I encountered. I never saw this when I first lived there so it was a real eye opener.
There is also a real arrogance that has crept into the Australian culture and in many parts of the world this is starting to give the Australians a bad reputation.
Your friend is not the only one who has problems living in Australia, it is not the worst place in the world but it is not the paradise a lot of people claim it to be. All I know is that most people I meet living overseas say that when the return to Australia to live they will not return to Perth. I would have to agree with them. |

No your friend must be blind, i have lived in Sydney i go to Brisbane a lot i travel over seas to Europe and Asia but i always come back to Perth its my home i love it. ive lived here most of my life, we have the best beaches in Australia the sand is white and fine compared to other states where it is coarse and yellow&.water is clear.
shopping is great in the suburbs at centres, Perth is mostly office workers these days compared to the 60,s the high rents have driven people out to suburbs, if you drive you can go any where easy
perhaps your friend does not drive and lives in a bad suburb |
