No Never. There are far more positives in Aus than negative. No where is perfect but here its so close it does not matter. I cant understand why you posted this question in this category. We are all here trying to be as helpful as we can, because our country means something to us. I do not think you will get to many people telling you that they are ashamed here. |

Not at all and I will never ever be ashamed to be Australian. There is nothing to be ashamed of.
I think you need one of those car stickers that says "AUSTRALIA - IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, LEAVE' |

No! Why would I be? If you don't like Australia bugger off! We don't particularly care.. also no one is forcing you to be here. I am Australian and Damn proud of it!! I love my country... The country side and land is fantastic, i think most of the people are great. Don't like it? Then bugger off we don't want you. |

No, Australia and Australians have nothing to be ashamed about. Our country isn't perfect, but our heart's in the right place and we try to be good global citizens.
Please leave and go somewhere that suits you better and make room for someone from another country who will appreciate the wonderful country and society we have here. When you discover that you've left behind the best country in the world, don't come begging to be allowed back. |

When people like you ask questions like this, I am ashamed to be the same nationality as you.
I love being Australian, wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
You should be proud of your country, if your not then bugger off somewhere else.

Wow! Your question floored me, and I'm not Australian. I'm an American, and proud to be so, but I've always had a fondness for Australia and its people, and the country and its diversity of places and wildlife--
The only thing I can think that you might be ashamed of if how people no longer seem to embrace the wild side but rather like to turn every wild and beautiful place into a little town, if you will. Do tell...where's the shame? |

Looks like you're on your own mate ! I am an Aussie by choice....initially it wasn't my choice because I was a little kid but in hindsight , it would seem to me that my parents made a very good choice.
We live in a beautiful country , completely separate from the political , racial & religious tensions that divide many others . The only area that I can see that could warrant your attitude is the element of greed & materialism that is slowly strangling the hearts & minds of many here....
Until we as a people group fully recognise how fortunate & well off we are compared to the less fortunate 95% of humanity & start to show compassion & practical assistance to help these people lift their standard of living , then we won't be complete as a nation ...in my humble opinion !
It all starts with us....how we use our personal resources ...how we train our kids ....what sort of an example we set them !
Having said all that , I am not ashamed to be an Aussie & am proud of my adopted homeland & its' people ... |

if you are ashamed to be an Australia then GO AWAY!
this is among the greatest countries in the world, with a stronger economy than other 'big' countries. Not many other countries have the chance to avoid recession.
but if there is one thing to be ashamed of this country, its that people like you are ashamed of Australia. But a quick fix to that is to round up all of you people who are ashamed for no reason, put you onto a boat and shift you to a poor country where living conditions are hostile...then you may appreciate this great country a little more! |

As a migrant I am proud to be an Aussie! No country in the world could be better. For those who do not like it here you may leave. That is a guaranteed basic right that you are given There are a lot of people all over the world that would like to take your place. |

No, never.
You can leave and go overseas anytime you like and when you find somewhere the equal or better be sure to come back and let us know.
I won't be holding my breath waiting though. |

Only when I see citizens of this supposedly democratic country asserting that those who do not like it should leave.
Personally I think Australia is a pretty good country, as countries go. But anyone who says it couldn't be improved is talking bullshit, and anyone who says that you should accept the status quo or get out has entirely missed the point of a free and democratic society.
There was a point in Australian history when women were not allowed to vote, homosexuality was a criminal offence, and children were stolen from their Aboriginal parents. It was the people who felt ashamed of these injustices who brought about their end, not the people who said "If you don't like it, get out". And anyone who thinks our country is now free of injustice is simply not paying attention. |

Sometimes. Like when Howard used to kiss Bush's *** all the time. And when Australian companies get taken over by Americans, and when Australia sells it's land and native animals to America.
And when Senator Conroy decided he wants to implement that 'clean feed' garbage. I would be much more proud to be an Australian if Australia wasn't run like it's a part of America. |
