Is australia a mutiracial country?

many people say that australia is a mutiracial country but whenever i watch an australian soap like home and away or neighbours, all i ever see is white people and ive never even seen one black or asian person to be honest.

Race is a meaningless concept.

Home and Away and Neighbours are not documentaries.

"home and away" and "neighbours" are set in small communities and it might not necessarily reflect the true multiculturalism of Australia. NOT every small town in Australia have an even mix of every ethnic group in them, a bi of common sense actually.
Also - because the "non-white" are the minority, it is then - pro rata - not as many no-white actors. make sense?

Come over to Australia. You will see for yourself how multicultural Australia really is.

So... when are you coming?

Lacieles
It IS an Asia-Pacific country, so you'll get Australian Caucasians living with Asians there...

Well I believe its a continent.

But Yes.

bisdak_4_life
yes we are a 'multicultural' country, but other ethnicities are still not a majority, and also not many asians or black people (well there aren't really many black people here either) live near the beach, but watch other TV shows from australia, there are heaps of people from other races on tv here, just not on soapies, plus we (the asians) tend not become involved with entertainment industry here, but there are famous asians here, like guy sebastian(malay), Arianne Caoili (filipino) , Jamie durie(sri lankan- english), Kate Ceberano (filipino- hawaiian- english) and Jessica Mauboy (indonesian- english) are examples of multicultural australia, also what about cathy freeman? she's aboriginal!!

That's because they've eaten all the aborigines - food can get scare on the coast you know - that's where most of them live - white people that is; Central Australia for the most part is just a barren sterile desert - come on - can you blame them - they've got to eat something and they're very good natured people - great sense of humour - they like to drink lager all day and shag sheep - what more could you want from a prison colony!

Australia is a meeting point between east and western cultures, tons of exotic food choices there, you can drive along the road, and mango trees and other fruit trees grow wild, you just stop and pick some whenever you want. Lots of Italians, Greeks, Asians, New Zealanders, Middle eastern folks are getting a hard time there lately, coz the racist whites are led by a warmonger wannabe called John Howard, who is actually another lap dog of George Bush.

Asians aren't attractive enough to be on Home and Away
