No. All four surviving species of echidna can be found in New Guinea, which was part of the continent of Australia until quite recently (geologically speaking).
They're found in both Papua New Guinea and the Indonesian province of Papua, both of which are on the island called New Guniea. Saying they're found in Papua New Guinea, not New Guinea is like saying that the raccoon is found in Canada, not North America. |

the division of the last three (Long beaked) is rather contention - some research assert they are all the same species. Scientific papers only list 3 species. |
