You ask so many questions, maybe you should try to find these things by yourself checking the internet. It seems to me that you don`t like to do the `dirty job` by yourself, you just like people to solve your problem.

It is not as expensive as Europe but it isn't cheap. One big problem with Australia is that it is huge. It costs money to get anywhere.

mixie
Big cities are expensive. Like sydney but small towns up and down the east coast can be reasonable as long as its not school holidays.

pukeypie89
I wouldn't say it is expensive, Compared to going to Paris, or London, it is down right cheap

Compared to a third world country everything here is expensive. What the exactly are you asking?

But Why??
Apparently not.

Russia just bought a load of our Uranium!!

sexc_n_h0rny_now
yes and is getting more expensive depending on your currency because ours is rising.

We were there a few years ago and it didn't seem any more expensive than home. But now the dollar has lost value - it's even 1 to 1 with the Canadian dollar at this point - so it is now more expensive in Australia than it once was.

But there are bargains to be had no matter where you go. One thing you should consider it using your debit card for most purchases. You can get cash back to spend on minor purchases, you get the best exchange rate and avoid bank fees, and when you get home, your bank will have a list of all your expenses in US dollars on your statement. Don't have a debit card? Go to a credit union and sign up before you go.

Interest rates on some credit cards just fell, too, with the adjustment by the Federal Reserve. Doesn't effect the price you see on the goods, but if you carry a balance, it just got slightly cheaper.

Finally, don't try to do everything while there. Just relax and enjoy yourself. We took a side trip to New Zealand and fell in love with the place. A bit dear for the flight but it was much cheaper there.
