I have lived in Canberra all my life and I'm proud to be a Canberran!
We are the Nations Capital and the Heart of the Nation!
There are always plenty of jobs available and lots of things to see and do in our Nations Capital!
It's a great place to live and also visit. Best time to visit is during autum when the autum leaves are out and nice sunny autum days.
Another great time to visit is during September and October each year when Floriade is on in Commonwealth Park. This year we had 360,000 people come through the gates!

Canberra has plenty of open parks to go for walks or take your dog for a walk around Lake Burley Griffin or even ride your bike because there's plenty of bike paths around Canberra.
Canberra is a nice quite city with lots of leafy streets during the autum months and plenty of night life and big events and attractions.
Doesn't take very long to get to places either and we have good roads. You can drive from the north of Canberra to the South of Canberra in just over 30mins where as other cities it could take longer!
From most areas of Canberra it only takes between 10mins to 30 or 40mins to get into the city center which is pretty quick!
Canberra is a pretty friendly place to live too and there's always something going on in Canberra all year round. Plus it's only 3hrs to Sydney by car or 8hrs to Melbourne or 2 to 3hrs to the coast and 2hrs to the snow.
Canberra is pretty central to most areas and we have daily flights going to all the other capital cities including direct flights to Sydney and Melbourne daily.

totally depends on what you are looking for ,It is best to experience it for yourself, like most things.
It is convenient, the coast is close, the snow is close, mountain ranges are close, there are rivers near by (though not much water left now) Sydney's not far , It is very well kept, the parks are beautiful, and its cycling friendly. Its down side is (in my view) its rather boring, if you wish to be entertained. and lacks character and atmosphere that places like Melbourne are famous for. It is also very spread out and not user friendly, a car is a must as the public transport is a disgrace. It is the "stepford wife" of Australian cities. Lovely. |

Really depends on what you are looking for re size, population, lifestyle, weather, facilities.
Nice place but if you are looking for something like a big city - Canberra aint it.
Do some research on the net about it then make up your own mind. |

Great place to live. Good size, good houses, plenty of great jobs, great place to raise kids. The best Rugby team in Australia.
Housing's getting pricey, but that's the case everywhere now.

it depends on what you after. i like canberra for the clean and fresh environment but it kinda boring there cuz its big and quiet. i like sydney better though it is busier and more expensive than canberra.more to do and see in sydney, great shopping places, entertainment and everything you need in a city. |
