To respond to a couple of incorrect answers
- this is not the hottest part of the year, we are currently in Autumn (fall). Our hottest part of the year (Summer) is 01 December to 28/29 February.
- Darwin's temperature does fall below 20 degrees celcius, I was there when we got down to 14 or 15 as a maximum one day and we were all in our ski jackets! (It isn't a common occurence but it does happen.) More often than not the temperature is mid 20s in the dry season, 30 degrees in the wet (a bucket loads of humidity)

So to answer the question, it's not always hot in Australia.
(The answer with the ski fields kinda says that and the one with the different cities shows the way it's split - in more detail, anything around and above the Tropic of Capricorn are 'the warm most of the year' places)

No. Australia has a good skiing industry in the Snowy Mountains and the Victorian Alps. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Australia was -23Ā°C at Charlotte Pass in the Snowy Mountains. many parts of inland Australia get frosts in winter.

Depending on which part of Australia you are referring to.
Australia is a huge country. The southern parts of the Australia, like Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Tasmania, would pretty much have cool months from March to September. And have a relatively warm to hot weather during the months of December to March. These are the months that bushfires happen.

The Northern part of the country, such as Darwin, Cairns, Alice Springs, Brisbane would pretty much have nice weather throughout the year. But would get hottest during the summer months of December to March.

No, it's not always hot everywhere in Australia.
I'd say Brittany and Michelle know very little about Australia and our climate.

In the northern areas like Darwin, Alice Springs and Brisbane it's quite hot during the whole year.
In Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart it can get quite cold during winter, although summer has been extremely hot.

Depends where you are. If you want to feel hot, try going to Tibooburra in New South Wales.

I have just returned from a vacation in the Snowy Mountains. It snowed.

Temperature outside is about 17C at the moment. In six weeks at this time of day it will be more like 11C. Overnight, it might go down to -4C. That's Canberra. In Darwin it will probably never go below 20C. Thats more than 2000km north of course. Does the "trail" in Austrailia" have anything to do with the yellow brick road leading to Oz? Just pulling your leg.

Not really.
That depends in a lot of things:
* The place where youĀ´re : Brisbane,Darwin, Etc are tropical, means that the average is of 25-27ĀŗC.
*Hobart,Tasmania, is in the south and has snow in the mountains in winter and gets really cold sometimes.
*The time of the year,

Nope. It depends on the area you are. Generally in the south-eastern states November - March is the warmest time of year and May - August the coldest. However the temperature varies greatly. I live in Hobart Tas at the moment and my family live in Melbourne. ALthough the states are fairly close in distance they'll often have a day that's 40 degrees celcius + while in Hobart it's only 25. When I flew back last night from Melbourne it was 20 and in Hobart when I got off the plane it was only 12.

I live in Sydney Australia, I wear a suit to work. last year I wore my jacket once and carried it the rest of the time. We're in the middle of the worst drought ever. We're talking about recycling water etc etc. so yeah, pretty hot.
