Depends if you get professional driving lessons or not.
But information on getting a drivers license in the state of Victoria is http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Licensing/GettingYourPs/
Fees are - http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Licensing/LicensingFees.htm
Never been to Singapore so I wouldn't know about that side of things. |

Average cost 6-10 driving lessons would be around $230-$350, depending on the company, whether they are 45 minutes or 1 hour, - many schools have student discounts.
On top of that add:
1. Learner permit test and licence fees $48
2. Probationary licence test & fees $102 |

I think Melbourne would be cheaper because from what I hear Singapore is a pretty expensive place to visit. But that is just the 'vibe' i get.
To get more info, you might like to ask your question in a Melbourne chat board like e.g.:
http://www.melbournechat.org
Good luck! I hope you become a great driver! |

Melbourne is defintely cheaper. Singapore is expensive and each training is about S$50 to 60/hr, and the test is tough.
My friend got his license easily in Melbourne. He got it the 1st attempt.
Good luck!!! |

Hi
Not really sure of the cost in either place - but certainly it would be more stressful to learn to drive in Singapore as the taxi drivers tend to be total maniacs and I didn't really see many places there where the traffic wasn't really busy... I guess if you learnt to drive in Singapore though you would be right to drive just about anywhere! |

It's definitely cheaper to learn in Australia. Someone slse has already given you the costs, remember that you have to have aleast 120 hours of driving lessons, they dont all have to be from a driving school, you could find a good friend to take you out as long as they have a full licence. I think you have to fill a diary etc. However in Singapore the lessons and licence cost are more. Once you become a confident driver, driving in Singapore is fine. I have driven in Singapore many times without any trouble.
Good Luck |
