It is disgusting.
They drown our tv's in christian propaganda at Easter and Christmas. Kids arent allowed to play soccer at Easter. Half the freakin popullation isnt even christian, and yet we all have to suffer.
How come the imaginary sky fairy gets respect, but our diggers dont? |

On foxtel the history channel id devoting the whole weekend to ANZAC Day. With movies and special on Victoria Cross recipients. I don't really watch free to air. |

Yes there is nothing , they should be showing what the men & women went through during the war and what we got from their sacifice , via movies , war docos ,etc for those at home,
And have public picnics etc for families and veterans to enjoy together. Celebrate what these people went and fought and died for .
But no the TAB ,shops are all allowed open and money talks , and not even a day off to rememeber the war heros ,there is no respect for The war vetrans . they get a march up george st then forgotten for another year
It is now
WE ONCE REMEMBERED THEM
And how long before it is what is anzac day about . and it becomes a name of a day only. |

i thought they put on movies like Gallipoli, Kakoda and All Quiet on the Western Front, but no channels will be showing them. A pity really, because I really would like to see Kakoda. |

Too much sport on to worry about the Telly.
The kids will get a good dose of it when they go back to school this week. |

Considering the recent talk about adding the film Gallipoli to the school curriculum here in Australia, you WOULD think someone would have thought to broadcast it! Instead, we can get some American Made meaningless dribble.......
I mean, at Christmas and Easter we get bombarded with themed tv for weeks before and after. Why not for an event of even more importance??? |

Having Independence Day on is ridiculous we could have The Odd Angry Shot,Kokoda and there are so many more.
Stupid TV programmers. |

Well you might want to tune into the ABC or SBS.. my partner's already bored me with quite a bit of war documentation in the last 24hrs. Gallipoli is in in Turkey btw. My kids love splashing in the war memorial fountain in our town.... I enjoy seeing them enjoy it because I know all the people who's names are engraved there were fighting for a better life for us.. and I try to explain that to my kids when we go there. My mother gets upset when I don't make a big deal of my grandfather's birthday in August.... but you can be sure I'll be thinking of him and his sacrifices all day tomorrow. That's something you can't teach in a classroom.

WTF are you talking about? On my Foxtel channels they won't shut up about it. Every channel there's something with veterans and people talking about their ancestors (who died before they ere born).
IMO you ockers go waaay overkill over this ANZAC stuff. |

What better than to take the kids to the parade & explain the meaning of ANZAC day in a practical way... |

What do you mean? All week there has been documentaries on both foxtel and abc
and as someone said, foxtel has heaps on this weekend. Look closer at your guide.. |

They probably just thought "Oh, quick, we need a film that's a bit actiony and kind of not really at all might pass for an Anzac Day tribute film...?" "Independence Day?" "Bingo!"
No idea, tbh. Shameful isn't it? After everything they did for us, the people who can't go on the marches in their towns for one reason or another can't even TRY to pay their repsect by watching a movie. |
