Hi George! Funny you should ask that because I reckon Australia's been turned upside down this year. I'm sitting here in Brisbane wondering when summer is going to come. The temperature has not been above 30 since early November and this afternoon is the first time since then that I've seen a perfectly blue sky.

Melbourne has terrible heatwaves as I recall when I visited there with my mother in the late 60's. (Please don't try to calculate my age from that!)

I do feel for the folk down there. 40+ temps are hard for anyone to endure. And I imagine that you would be more set up for heating than cooling in residential homes. Get that icy wet towel around the back of your neck and wish some of your summer up to Queensland.

This year seem to be crazy for heat! This is what it's like in Adelaide in summer - hot and dry.
I think every year the weather in general gets more and more extreme :(

It's 7:15 PM and the BOM is still reporting a temp of 36.6 degrees C, so yes, it is ridiculous!
