Is it ok for a Non-aussie to get a Southern Cross Tattoo ? |
I am an Indian origin, and spent a few years in Sydney. I am in love with the country especially the outback. Made some of the best friends there and had the best years of my life. I am not residing there anymore. But plan to visit it every year. Is it ok for me to have a permanent Southern Cross Tattoo on my back or is it just plain weird, considering the fact that i dont belong there ? Just a memory and respect for a place that i left a part myself behind. What do you aussies think ? |

Yes, do it by all means. I see no problem.
In my opinion that's what tattoos are all about.
A permanent reminder of a time in your life that has a special meaning to you.
I think Australia is a wonderful place too, but I'm a little biased, I'm an Aussie by birth.
As has already been said, being an Aussie is all about how you feel about Australia and not about where you come from. |

yes in your case i think it would be totally fine, your getting the tatt not cause it's a fashion statement but because it means something to you, so no definately not weird, i say go for it |

Yes, I don't see why not. Its always good when people get tattoos that actually mean something to them personally :) Go for it. |

I don't see why not. You don't have to be born in Australia to be an Australian at heart, or love being here.
The Southern Cross is visible everywhere in the southern hemisphere anyway, so it's not really an exclusively australian symbol. Though we do use it the most. |

Yes that's fine, i did it too. My friend and i both got southern cross tattoo's to represent our year backpacking Australia, as it was such an exciting and fantastic time in our lives.
(Then i came back and now i live in Aus) |

im going to be devils advocate
unless you from the southern hemisphere, i think it would be wierd.
not only that but its on our flag. thats why we do it.
we see it as patriotic, dont get me wrong you might wanna be patriotic for australia too, but you INDIAN |
