Is it possible to get a job fruit picking in perth if I have only a 3 month holiday visa, NOT a work visa?

It is ILLEGAL to work on a tourist visa. No one will employ you if you are on a tourist visa. You might get a dodgy farmer that will, but be prepared to be raided by immigration and deported back home.

If you want to work, get a working holiday visa.

no. coz fruit picking is work. and you are not permitted

Julie B
No, you need a work visa.

Hi there,

If you are referring to Perth, Western Australia, then the answer is No.

You must have a working holiday permit to work, as bare minimum. If you outstay your three months, then you may be deported and charged, or locked in detention.

Have a look at www.immi.gov.au for further information - or check outhttp://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/ for details on Australias working holiday visa. Remember, only people from certain countries can apply for this visa, and you must also be over 18 and under 30.

Good luck :)

No,
It is only 3 mon. and you can't get a job there if you are only visiting.

YES - i fruit picked in Perth for a while. I worked in the Kalamunda hills in 1997 (so things may have changed!)... we looked and looked and found nothing around most areas of Perth but in Kalamunda you have lots of apple farms and you can easily get a job apple thinning or picking. If you just drive from farm to farm you will very quickly pick up a job as they were desperate for workers. Ohh wear trousers as the marsh (march?) flies are a real pain.

Yes its possible, i know plenty of people who have done it, if your already their then i would ask around from other backpackers and see where some good places to work are, and see if anyone can offer you cash in hand work. Your best bet is to go south of perth, around the coast and around other attractions until esperance, there are plenty of working hostels around there that may be able to offer you something.
Honestly your never going to get a concrete answer cos its not like anyone is advertising this sort of thing

Is it Perth, Australia, or Perth Scotland ?
If I presume the latter (and I think Australia is about the same ............)

Technically you should have a work permit if not a UK National, but things as they are in the farming industry, "blind eyes" are turned to this, so no real prob, as long as you do not overstay the period of your visa.
The immigration and border control folks do spot checks now & then on veg & fruit pickers, as many do overstay the UK visa, and take up residence.

I am all for free enterprise, but I get a hard time visiting the US with a Brit passport.
"How long are you staying ? Do you have a return ticket? How much money or credit are you carrying? Stand behind the yellow line while I see if you are on the PNG list (persona non gratis), or have a criminal record.

"Do you also wish to inspect my belly-button for fluff ?" I say

So it is possible in the more liberal UK and OZ to take on temporary employment, but you will receive perhaps less than the minimum wage, and be encouraged to work long hours in the fields.

Apply for an extended visa, and a work permit, and no probs.

I do not promote illegal migration, which happens more & more, as it deprives UK citizens of jobs, but fruit and veg farmers are more than happy to to take on casual workers.
