You cannot see from Surfers to Sydney. It's too far to appear on the horizon. You cannot see Brisbane either (well, I never have in 40+ years).

As Sydney is south of Surfers, distant high buildings to the south might be Coollangatta. You might see those if you were high enough.

tuppenybitz
lol you had the piss taken out of you
its about a 12 hour drive surfers to Sydney

it wouldn't have been Brisbane you saw as it is in the other direction, Brisbane is north of surfers and Sydney is way south

You can only see Coolangatta , which is the bottom of Queensland Tweed heads also which is the top Of New South Wales . So maybe your friend mean't NSW . Sydney being its capital but still Sydney is 900 kilometres South

The Mouse II
It's too far to see Sydney from there. (Unless of course, you have super vision like me. LOL)

No I think someone was pulling your leg! Sorry!

You definitely cannot see Sydney from Surfers, and it wouldn't have been Brisbane as that is north of Surfers. It was most probably Coolangatta as another here suggested.

But Why??

yeah youve been had.

The only skyscrapers you can see from Surfers are those of Brisbane.
Sydney would be way beyond the horizon from your line of sight you would have to be 300k above the earth to see it.
