to be honest i think you will come across rude people wherever you go. as long as you find the nice people and dont let the rude ones bring you down, then i dont see the problem :) |

lol please tell your mum not to believe everything she reads...
we can be the most irreverent people .. but i don't think that's a sign of real rudeness... we can be sarcastic and can't help having a dig at others who are a little precousious(sp).....BUT ... I can guarrantee ... if you need a hand... if you are struggling .. if anybody can help you out ... and Aussie will be one of the first to put out their hand to assist you :)
rude .. well yeah .. but uncaring ... nah.... |

That survey was actually about office etiquette. It seems that people in some countries found it offensive that Australians call all of their colleagues, including management, by their first names. They were offended by our friendliness and informality and felt that we should be more stiff and formal during office hours. That was somehow interpreted as rudeness - what a load of cr@p!
All I can say is that the rest of the world should learn from Australians if that's their attitude. We're nice people to be around and our workplaces are much more pleasant to work in than anything I've experienced overseas. |

No, Were the nicest people in the world. |

You can not relate rudeness to citizenship!
Everywhere there are rude people and nice people.
Personally, I think that rude people are uneducated ones, if you're educated enough you'd know that rudeness takes you nowhere.
Also another source of rudeness would be serious problems which would lead you to lack of temper control. But this rudeness is temporary.
Anyway, just enjoy knowing nice people and try to avoid rude people :) |

As an Australian that has extensively travelled I can assure you there are far worst out there.
My own experience is that Americans, especially those who travel overseas, depict the 'Ugly American' far better than any other race.
I witnessed americans swilling beer inside churches in Italy, showing no respect for other's beliefs, constantly saying that everything was bigger and better where they come from and clicking fingers and shouting at staff in stores who were obviously attending to others.
I have been ashamed at some of the antics of my fellow countrymen overseas as well.
Even seeing all this I know that not all Americans are the same just as not all Australians are rude. To claim a whole nation as being the rudest in the world is just plain ridiculous. Every country has good and bad I just dont think Australians warrant that title. |

No.
Most studies suggest the French get the award.
Once, a British upper-class (they have a class structure there, still) gal guessed that I was an Australian.
I explained no, I'm a Californian.
With visions of Hollywood going through her vapid head, she apologized profusely, thinking that she had obviously insulted me without cause.
Methinks some arrogance on her part was involved.
I'll party with an Aussie any day. |

Didn't you ask this question just a day or two ago?
(I see that one has been removed but now you've put it in multiple categories.)
Last time it was a friend who gave you this misinformation.
Looks a lot like trolling to me.
To answer your question - No that would be a wild generalisation. |

Aussies are the most chill people in the world! Like someone mentioned before, you'll meet rude people everywhere you go, just gotta learn how to deal with them and keep your guard up that's all. |

tlcaringlady4u's answer is both ignorant and stupid. People like you gives us Americans bad names. If you had any ideas of what you are talking about you would know Iraq's were not the ones that attacked United States on their ."Look what they did to those people in the USA a few yrs ago. " If your referencing to 9/11, Im sorry your terribly mistaken. 9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq. USA went into Iraq due to intelligence saying they have weapons of mass destruction. (Which they did not when they went in to see) Nether the less the leader was still a bad one not the people. Where ever you go there is always good and bad. |

you asked this the other day!!
so ill say what I said the other day!!
How do these "studies" in these papers and magazines reallly get a true indication of "rudeness"
Example - It is considered rude to slurp Noodles in most Australian households, yet in Japan, it is encouraged to slurp Noodles.
And here in AUstralia and other places, it is considered rude to burp. But in some South East Asian countries, burping after a meal is a complement to the chef for the good food!!!
Every culture has different rules on rudeness, so there can not be a "worlds rudest country". |

We're one of the friendliest countries in the world.
Tis the Americans who are rude and arrogant.... no offense. |

no i don't believe we are..
we just have a different way of reacting to thing, a different sense of humor. it takes a bit of getting used to but alot of us are really lovely!
of course, there are quite a few rude people here, like everywhere. |
|

Your number is up!
|
Not true at all :) What a silly thing to say!
I used to live in Australia so I guess I'm the wrong person to ask. Aussies are usually the friendliest and most open of people. Maybe it's the sun..
I'm from the UK, and in my experience the rudest people are the Spanish, French or Americans. Though that is also a generalisation. |

NO, the IRAQ people are the meanest people on earth. They go around killing people for no reason, blowing buildings up with people in it, they hold people hostages and they kill millions of innocent children for no reason and they go into other counties and blow building and people up. Look what they did to those people in the USA a few yrs ago. That is sick, cruel, rotten and mean of them and now part of the world is in war with them. So NO you are not a mean country and your Mom is wrong Sweetie. |
