Yep. It's one of those strange quirks, just like the Americans walk everywhere with a quarter pounder in one hand and a super size thickshake in the other - it helps them keep their balance.

(LOL at deaity's answer - go the dropbears!!)

J.E.S.
It's a closely guarded secret. They will have to kill you now that you found out. Run, and never come back to Q&A.

yes, we do walk on our heads.
we do this to try and protect ourselves from the drop bears.

hundreds of tourists die here every year from drop bear attacks, because they just don't understand the importance of walking on their heads.

cjid84
Yeah, stupid, we want to keep our feet clean

Ken E
Funny, I always thought it was the inhabitants of NY and similar remote villages that did that.

No it is NOT True.

We DO walk upside down but We DO NOT walk on our heads. We walk on footpaths, using our hands. It is very hard to move using our heads.

We reserve the use of our head to do more useful things - like thinking and learning where places are in the world.

tuppenybitz
you mean to say you didn't know that fact?

it astounds me how many uneducated people there are in the world!

tentofield
Why should we need to? If you look at a globe with Australia in its rightful position at the top, it is the Europeans and Americans who are upside down. There is a northern hemisphere conspiracy to put Australia at the bottom but you can't keep Australians down - cream always rises to the top.

yes and they can fly like the birds and swim like the fish under water too.lol

DollyMD
Well, that explains balding men.
Maybe we should all get T shirts like the one I saw a jogger wearing in NY.
"If your feet smell, and your nose runs, your built upside down"

Only on special occasions - if you go to Bondai Beach on Christmas Day you'll probably see a lot of people celebrating in this unique, and quaintly Antipodean, way.

yes, it's true! Give it a go some time! It's SO EASY to walk on ONE, ROUND body part :). Our brains are actually in our hands, and we write with our feet :). That way we aren't totally obsolete :).
