New Zealand is a completely separate nation from Australia and is located 2,250km (1,400 miles) to the east of the Australian mainland.

Both Australia and New Zealand are separate countries ,therefore both have capital letters at the beginning

New Zealand and Australia are two separate country's, which also means they have their own immigration laws.

See a map here http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/aunewnew.gif

Download Google Earth and explore NZ and Australia ! http://earth.google.com/

pablosgirl
NO!!!!!!! Lol, I'm a New Zealander and can safely say that they are two completely different coutries! It's like saying US and Canada are the same country. (Or England and Ireland) etc

cc_of_0z
New Zealand is an independent country to the South East of Australia.

LULU
no it is not, new zealand is a separate island, check out google earth.

New Zealand, Australia: 2 different country's.

Pearl26
Hell no.
And we are not an island off the coast of Australia.
New Zealand is a separate Country.

jstnfox - Why would NZ want to join Aussie anyway?

JK
Definitely separate countries. As above, it's like saying is Canada in the U.S.?

Travel between the two countries definitely requires passports, I've done this many times because my husband is from New Zealand and I am Australian.

The cultures are quite different in many ways, but of course we have our similarities s well, just like any other country. The confusion seems to happen because we are in the Southern Hemisphere, where there aren't as many countries as the Northern Hemisphere, so people aren't as educated about Southern Hemisphere countries. Also, to outsiders, our accents are similar. Again, though, it's like saying to a Canadian "Are you from America?"

New Zealand's population is 4 million, Australia's is 20 million. Both small, but both full of quality rather than quantity :oP

QLD
Yes - like Canada is inside the US

lmao

haha....NO!

No way (They where asked if they wanted to become part of Australia but they where dumb and said no)

tredbruce138
No, but there are so many New Zealanders, (Kiwis), in Australia it gets confusing sometimes! No passport required between the two. Fly or learn to swim REALY GOOD! It's a long way over ocean!

Son... But mom, I don't want to go to New Zealand!
Mom... Shutup and keep rowing!

New Zealanders get very mad when this kind of thing happens.....probably because we Aussies keep stealing the best bits from the Kiwis. Like pavlova. And Russell Crowe (before he started throwing phones).

But Australia and New Zealand are separate countries.
