We are an independent country. We were a British colony, but we have had self-rule since 1853 and independance since before WW2. We were formerly part of a defence agreement with the US, but we ended that in 1987 because we object to nuclear weapons. We are no part of the 'coalition of the willing' either, although we did supply some non-combatants.
