Singapore better than Australia ?

You are kidding aren't you?

To start my comparisons, you can buy t-shirts and posters in Singapore that say "Singapore is a fine city. Spitting $1000, Urinating $1000, intoxicated in public $1000, smoking in public areas $1000, ugly car $1000 etc..." They have high fines for for some of the most socially common practices that Australia experiences.

Then there are extremely high jail sentences for offences that in Australia would only result in a fine or good behaviour bond.

Add to that the extremely high cost of living. Aussie dollar today is almost equal to the Singapore dollar. But in Singapore for near $1000 a week you rent an apartment that is no bigger than an Australian bedroom with an ensuite.

Try paying $5 toll every time you drive into the CBD.

Try the dense population of Singapore compared to the wide open spaces of Australia.

Living on the equator where it is hot and steamy all year round including at night, compared to Australia's diverse climate.

Consider the ethnic prejudices of Singapore where Chinese descendants despise the Malays who despise the Indians who despise the Japanese etc etc...

Consider the high price of clothes in Singapore compared to the same imported product in Australia for about half the price.

I think it is now around $3000 a year to register a car in Singapore, compared to around $400 in Australia for the same car.

Then their are the neighbours.... Pro-Muslim Malaysia is just across the water from Singapore.

I'll stop there.

Singapore is not nearly as strict as you think, dont let this put you off. Its a very nice country and generally the people are really nice. the food id particularly great, a real mix of flavours, hotels are nicce and some really great facilaties/places cn be found. The only thing is i felt bit iscolated because many of them speak a different language(sorry dont know which one) although english is the main language and every where you go people will understans
Having said that australia is also extremely nice with lots of lovely places, parks. And yes a multi cultral society which is friendly.
before you migrate i think its important you go visit both countries.
hope i helped.
otherwise you will not know what to expect.
hope this helped :D

I wouldn't think so.

Australia is much richer (although living standards are the same). but Singapore is more international, so it depends on what your motives for migrating are.

Oz M: "Try the dense population of Singapore compared to the wide open spaces of Australia."

Why on earth do you want wide open spaces? GAH! SPRAWL why??? It's terrible!!!!

That's been on my mind recently

NO.....Singapore is NOT better than Australia.
I've been to both; my uncle has been living in Singapore for over 35 years now, and he and his family want to migrate to Australia soon.
I've been to both and I would rather live in Australia.
In fact, my finance lives in Melbourne (Australia), and I'm planning on moving to Australia in June.
Singapore's a great place to visit....but it's too freaking small, and you will get bored after a few years....or sooner!

It is really a subjective question which you can really only answer for yourself. Australia has a wide variety of climates, cities, towns, country etc. Ive never been to Singapore. Asking yourself why you wanna immigrate may help you answer where is best for you.

allabouttheothers
one is a typical asian country the other is a multicultural country.both nice but i would def go to OZ if i was you.The weather, the people, the cities everything in australia is great

Australia is better. Weather's milder and not boiling all the time like it is in Singapore.

It is very strict in Singapore and offenders get heavy penalties for a lot of things.

Mel
That's easy... NO. Australia is the best place to live, the land of opportunity, scenery, freedom, life.
