List of smoking bans in Australia here ::

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smoking_bans_in_Australia

but generally -
Smoking is prohibited in all pubs, clubs, restaurants and workplaces, as well as in commercial outdoor eating and drinking areas and in outdoor public places (e.g., patrolled beaches, children's playground equipment, major sport stadiums, and within 4 meters of non-residential building entrances

yes I do every day!

not allowed in pubs/clubs/restaurants/cafes/eateries
government buildings - just dont litter the streets with your butt

bla bla bla!

bekka
yep, although you are not alowed to smoke in enclosed public places: clubs, hotels, some pubs.

they are talking about bringing in a ban at train stations, tram stops in melbourne and bus stops

tentofield
For the most part, yes. Some areas around doorways and entrances to shops and office buildings are smoke-free areas so look for signs.

It's allowed on the streets, in some shopping districts and smoking sections of restaurants, but not so much in bus stops, train stations or anywhere where there's a "no smoking" sign.

I dont smoke, so I dont really care. you drop your butt on the ground you will be fined. Good revenue for council.
