Sort of, I believe that the Queen of England(etc.) is technically the Head of State of all the Commonwealth Countries. New Zealand has a Prime Minister but not a separate King of its own. |

The person in charge of New Zealand is the Prime Minister (essentially like a President, but acts differently as they operate using a Parliamentary Government) John Key.
HOWEVER, New Zealand is a country that is a part of the Commonwelath. So, even though their country's leader is John Key, they are ALSO ruled by Queen Elizabeth II, who rules over all the Commonwealth (UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc.) :P
Check out my sources for more information on this... |

No there is not a King in New Zealand but a Prime Minister who leads the country because New Zealand is part of the British Monarchy and so the Queen has control over New Zealand. However the Prime Minister is not the most powerful leader in New Zealand, but the Governeor-General is who is the Queens Representative and the Governor-General actually can overturn Parliamentary decisions and even dissolve Parliament and call for a re-election, the Governor-General is very powerful, however in a country like New Zealand the Prime Minister is seen as the most powerful person because the Governor-General never has the need to dissolve Parliament or call for re-election due to the country's conservative nature. |

There's also a Queen of the Tainui Maori tribe, but she only has authority within that tribe. |

New Zealand's head of state is Queen Elizabeth II (of England). She is represented in New Zealand by the Governor General (currently Anand Satyanand), who assents to new laws on her behalf, and invites the leader of the winning party in parliamentary elections to form a government. He or she then becomes Prime Minister (currently John Key). http://www.gg.govt.nz/role
There is a Maori King (since 2006 when his mother, the last Maori Queen, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu died) - his name is Te Arikinui Tuheitia Paki. Although he belongs to the Tainui iwi (tribe) - he is in fact recognised as the Maori King (not just by Tainui). http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/politics/the-maori-king-movement |

New Zealand has a Prime Minister but we are still part of the Commonwealth so the Queen of England is still our queen. However there is also a Maori King. |
