Is there any jobs in Melbourne or Sydney? |
I wanted to head out to either Melbourne or Sydney (preferably Melbourne) and was wondering are there any jobs there because of the recession. Even if I get a job in a supermarket stacking shelves I wouldn't care at this point (supposedly the minimum wage is more than adequate?). |

There are jobs around but the competition for them is pretty hot. The economic downturn is hitting Australia fairly hard and there are a lot of people out of work who are now competing for the casual jobs just to make ends meet. If you have barista experience, a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate and are prepared to do anything, you'll probably be OK, but don't come without enough money to tide you over a few periods of unemployment in an expensive country. There are still fruit picking and other seasonal jobs but of course they're not in the cities. They can pay well but the work is very hard and the working conditions can be pretty rough, but if you're prepared to follow the seasons, that avenue is always open to you.
All of the above assumes you have a Working Holiday visa or status that allows you to work legally. If not, you can forget it.

It is hard to find a job, the global economic downturn is affecting Australia quite badly, but if you are not to fussy you have a pretty good shot! |

Target down in melbourne eastern suburbs is doing a stocktake very soon. After stocktake they will probably allow you to continue working with them. Send them your resume and ask very nicely if they are still open for applications. |

Staking shelves, believe it or not, is a hard job to get - there is generally a pool of people on the books, you call the supermarket at a particular time of the day and they tell you whether to come in or not. So you could work from 3 hours to 10 hours a week. Not a job to rely on. |

As long as you have a working visa and a good work ethic, there are jobs around.
If your interested in stackig shelves, simply go to the major supermarket web sites and submitt a CV or simply go in and speak to the Manager as they generally recruit locally.
Other than that, I'd submitt your CV online to recruitment agencies. |

Australia is the only country didn't affected by recession, Why not post your cv online to Employment Agencies or contact the Australian Embassy for more details. |
