What do you mean - when you go to look at shops without intending to buy, it is called window shopping in australia.

Before the days of malls and large shopping complexes, window shopping was a term used when the shops were all on the street and you could see the latest fashions accessories gadgets etc. on display in the windows and it was common for people to window shop during the evening and weekends when the shops were closed.
Nowadays I call it just looking or browsing.

Elizabeth
Yes, window shopping and "just browsing" are common pass times here.

Window shopping is quite popular, with the economy how it is, its the only shopping most of us can afford.

Another popular phrase is "just browsing", we often use it as a response to sales assistants that approach us if we're not actually intending to buy.

Yes - that term is world wide.

'Just looking' .... but don't buy. (or can't afford to buy LOL)

Driver T
If you have shops, if those shops have windows, then cripes and 'Hey Presto', you have window shoppers.
The same the world over.

Lilo.x
hahah yes! the best type of quick shopping here!
