They sell unique designer gowns by Alfred Angelo (he is an American designer), Monti etc (just to name a few) at very reasonable and affordable prices; I should know: this is where I am buying my wedding gown and all of the gowns for the female members of my bridal party.

It really all depends on how formal you would like to go. I looked everywhere- from Chapel st. to CBD boutiques and yes even DFO's. But in terms of originality I found Sydney road in Brunswick was the best. It's much more formal wear, but if u want something thats less formal I would suggest the CBD (although it can get really pricey).

I've attatched a link of my formal dress 2 give u an idea of what 2 expect- it cost about $280 (which included tailoring).

If you want something truly unique, try St. Kilda! They have lots of great vintage stores there and the dresses are gorgeous, if you like vintage, that is (^-^)

If you have a few months, head to Hills in hollywood in Richmond.
They have alot of beautiful dresses that they order in, and will even list them to make sure no one else has the same as you.

There's quite a few places in the City; but I'd probably recommend Chadstone. There's a huge selection of clothing shops out there. And (of course) it is the fashion capital!
