I just got my gas bill .. am in a shock till now
it's not $100
not $200
not even $500
it's $ 730 !!!!! wat the !!?
I live in Melbourne,Australia
and I moved to my new house 2 months ago and this is the first gas bill I receive from TRUE ENERGY... it's for 58 days
I use a ducted heating ,, is this why the bill is super high ?
is this normal ? or wat ?
should I change true energy or should i just never use the heater again ?

wow.. unless you've been heating the house 24/7 than that bill is not correct, that is ridiculous.. $700 dollars for gas??? i don't think ive ever gone past the $200 mark. |

Turn off all gas and then check the meter to see if it is turning. You might have a gas leak.
Call the gas company and ask them to verify the bill. They may have read the meter wrong (you can verify the reading with your bill and see if the number on the bill is lower than the current reading).
If you had a large leak, even outside, you should have probably been able to detect it before getting the bill. |

It is a high gas bill, and perhaps you should check it out with the company.
But it also depends how you've been using the heating. Have you been heating the entire house? How long was the heating on each day, just a few hours morning and evening, or all day or 24 hours per day.
If you've heated the entire house for 24hours per day, then this bill could well be correct! |

Wow! That's a huge bill! I thought the 3 month $630 electricity bill I got yesterday was high, but $730 for a 58 day gas bill is ridiculous, even after a cold winter. Speak to True Energy and ask them to check the reading. You could have a faulty meter or a gas leak and you need to get to the bottom of the problem, from a safety as well as a cost point of view.

Yes, I would most definitely query that, it sounds like they made a mistake. Companies do make mistakes. I worked for an insurance broker a long time ago that was breaking in a new computerised accounting system. The system was a schemozzle but the staff were under pressure to start sending out bills. They sent out one in error for over $1 million! |

woah thats ahigh gas bill, you should probably avoid using gas as much as possible and try using alternatives like "heaters" or something else.. |
