okay so based on states you've basically got western Australia which you can either be stuck in the outback or on the coast, if on the coast, deserted from the majority of all other Australian which is on the other side of the country or in the outback, still deserted. Northern Territory - two words heat and rain... at the same time. although, there's still the option of outback, and dryness. Queensland - kind of like the dream state for everybody else, evrything feels like it should go right here, mainly cos it's tropical and beachy, nevertheless still can be quite deserted, and stuck in the ouback. Tasmania - Crazy weather that will make you soggy and cold, then hot and sweaty, not really a chance of outback because once you kinda get the feeling of outbackness, your almost to the otherside. Victoria - Same as Tas except, very real chance of outback. South Australia - I don't know this place, does that tell you somthing? I don't know you decide!
So basically I'd suggest Tasmania if your looking for rural yet convenience and want a bit of everything, you can get your most rural town with bogans and cows and tractors yet an hour away will be a amall city. well only really have 3 cities..poor excuses for cities but cities nevertheless, You have beaches, plains, mountains, rain, floods, heat, drought, but your never far from anything.
Tasmania does have job availability.. but depends on where your expertise lies to whether you'd be able to pick up work.

depends on what skills you have.
Low end of skills look on www.jobsearch.gov.au and search by profession.
higher end Try seek.com.au
Also depends on what you are looking for in a town but alot of country towns are screaming for workers.
share some more details and we can give you better details |

before choosing where to live have you seen if you qualify to move to australia? immigration is strictly limited to skilled workers in an occupation needed in australia unless you have close family to sponsor you

Melbourne is the best city, but if you're not city people, maybe go for Bendigo, Ballarat or someplace like that. In Victoria, not too far from the city, but far enough! From Melbourne to Bendigo is about 150km, to Ballarat around 112km. They're not big cities but they've go teverything you'd need. |

Launceston. It's more like a town than it is a city. |

have a look at Toowoomba, Im not sure what the job opportunities are like but its not far from Brisbane and the Gold coast and Sunshine coast so there is a lot of exploring and weekend holiday options. Toowoomba is a nice town with some nice old buidings and it doesnt seem to get as hot there as it does in Brisbane. |

I would recommend a town in South West of Victoria or South East of South Australia.
There are some lovely towns, and a recent survey has shown people who live in these areas to be the 'happiest' people in Australia, or the most content to put it better. |

geelong or warnambool- regional cities in victoria, on the coast- a fantastic coast and there are opportunities if you think outside of the box- good comunities- friendly people, good lifestyle, and much cheaper than the big cities- the hinterland around is also good if you want to farm, or grow grapes - good dairy country- look up the great ocean road - then go inland- jobs, you make your own, but thats worth it- we moved from the big city- london - to the coast and we love it |

Australia is a big country you will need to come here and decide where to live yourself. Australia is not like the UK. |
