If you have no Idea or knowledge about Australia, then why in the world would you want to take yourself and children there? The world is made up of people who do things without even thinking and this is a prime example.
Do your research, go visit, check out work and social requirements and imigration etc.
This is such a wimsicle question that is should go in the 'stupid questions' box.
It takes a lot of serious effort to migrate somewhere, even if you knew how and what you wanted , it could take up to two years to do the paper work.

sorry to burst your bubble, but think about it, research, take a holiday and more research , save hard, sell most of your assets, say good bye to all your friends, then move somewhere, where you know no one, be subject to bigotry, start your life all over again , but with children as well. bye the way you will need employment too.

Sydney is expensive, but worth the money. North west of sydney is new in particular The Hills District. There are parks, schools, bushland. South Sydney has a lot of Greek and Italian immigrants, South West of Syd has a lot of Middle Eastern. We Aussies are extremely accepting of migrants, we claim to be "multicultural"

Hope you like it here. Best country in the world!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a look at going to the Northern beaches in Sydney. A good place for Brits to go to is anywhere between Manly and Palm Beach. Palm beach is the beach where they film Home and Away and it is about 1hr 30 mins bus ride from central sydney. You can get to manly from sydney in 30 mins on either the bus or the ferry which they use like we use the tube in london. My family all moved over to Dee why. There are so many outdoor sports that your kids will love, good schools, nice local shops, outdoor things for you to enjoy and Sydney is very close too and will have everything you need.

I live in the Sunshine Coast, a beachside city of 300,000 people located 1 to 1 and a half hours drive north of the Queensland capital city, Brisbane. It has everything you are looking for, plus great beaches (with no stingrays, box jellyfish or crocodiles). Not as hot as Cairns, or as cold as Melbourne, or expensive as NSW. You can get a nice 3 bedroom cottage from around $350,000.

Purple girl
This is really a hard question to answer because Australia is a large country and it would depend on where your job is, assuming that you're planning to work. Sydney's great, but expensive. I loved Cairns. Perth is nice, but much quieter than Sydney or Melbourne. Good luck.

Uncle Fester
Melbourne is your only choice. European feel to the city/culture, sports capital of the WORLD and the best education facilities in the country. It is also know as the 'Garden State' due to the vast array of parks and open spaces
