The best place to start researching your eligibility for an Australian visa, or if you can live and work in Australia is the official Immigration website : http://www.immi.gov.au
Some Australian visa categories
•Employer sponsored workers
•Points-based skilled workers
•Point-based skilled workers who have studied in Australia
•Students
Info on the Points Test - http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/points-test.htm
To see how much you would score see http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/175/eligibility.htm
To see if you can apply under the Aussie skilled shortage jobs off the Immigration website see http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/index.htm
Or view occupations in demand here http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/skilled-occupations/occupations-in-demand.htm
Working In Australia, For jobs, helpful tips and information on working in Australia - http://www.workingin-australia.com
How to Live Here - Step-by-step guides to procedures and paperwork
http://www.justlanded.com/english/australia is a great guide that explains things in simple terms, applying for visas, working or as an international student etc…
Things to do first when you arrive in Australia http://www.immi.gov.au/living-in-australia/settle-in-australia/to-do-first/index.htm and info on settling here http://www.immi.gov.au/living-in-australia/settle-in-australia/index.htm

You will need to contact the Australian Immigration and find out.
But basically you have to prove you are not scum of the earth and have loads of money to apply for a visa to stay and work there I think its minimum of 10k in the bank.
Or you could have a company sponsor you
Otherwise you are stuffed. Buy a holiday home there and pretend its just holidays |

there are plenty of visas for skilled workers and i would begin by enquiring about a working visa through a company that will subsidise you in return for your employment
there are plenty of agencies in oz that can help with this. look through the employment agencies and they will have some advertised. i am sure that mechanics are in demand.
just punch in google.au and start searching |

You need to apply for a visa , just having a trade doesn't qualify you , it has to be a trade that is in short supply .
There is an age limit and you have to be a good citizen with no convictions .
There are various ways to gain entry , one being if you have family to support you when you arrive or a job to go to is another.
Look on line for Australian visas and take it from there .Good luck |

I'm also in the same process...basically, look at the immi website (as suggested by someone already here) and roughly assess which one of you would score higher points. Here,s what I mean...
We are doing our application on my name as I have higher qualifications and better points for my occupation than my partner. SO the application will be registered in my name and my partner is under my application. Being aged under 30 scores higher points so that can be an advantage.
The first and foremost thing you need to do is see which type of Visa you would apply for. We're applying for independant skilled visa. then see where you need to score points..
Best of luck! |
