6 Days in Aussie to see ALL the best spots is not alot of time. However I would pick::::

Same as what people have said already.
I just hope that you truly understand the size of Australia. It is as big as continental USA - so.... if you are going to see what other people suggested... be prepared to fly everywhere.
Sydney itself - even for a VERY quick sight see - you will already need two days.

Otherwise - DON'T expect to see EVERY BEST SPOT of Australia but pick the best spots in ONE region. For example - Sydney : Opera House, cruise Sydney Harbour, A day trip from Sydney and see Canberra, a day to the Blue Mountains to see the Three Sisters. Then do a two day fly out to Uluru and back to Sydney.

Well six days is no where near long enough one would need twelve or more weeks to really see some of the best places...I take it you are on a flying visit.....

Anyway as far as we are concerned you are down under,. not us

My goodness, you are coming this far and only have 6 days? That will be a very rushed visit as Australia is SO beautiful and has SO much to see! I guess your best option would be to start in Sydney and see the Harbour, the Bridge, the Opera House, Bondi beach, the next day you could go up to the beautiful blue mountains and see our lovely bushland and sights, then fly up north to QLD - go to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo at Beerwah (Sunshine Coast) and cuddle a koala - then up to the Great Barrier Reef - or take a cut across to the red centre and see the amazingly beautiful ayres rock and the centre of Australia... you will want to stay a lot longer!!

six days? you will have to fly everywhere. my suggestions:

- great barrier reef (a must!!!!)
- uluru (also a must see)
- katherine
- north queensland - kuranda, daintree
- blue mountains
- cradle mountain
- kangaroo island
- sydney (soooo much to see - opera house, harbour cruise, zoo, hunter valley, blue mountains)

I live in QLD what a shame you only have 6 days our state is GREAT but very big and so much to see and do but not in that time frame,afraid you would spend most of the 6 days in transit due to the size of QLD

sorry you only have 6 days sydney is worth a look,also the scenes at Blue mountains west area,then onto south coast of sydney,all worth seeing although rushed you will get a huge city and sights,mountains,hinterlands and beautiful beaches.

Six days isn't much time to see Australia. But make sure you see the Great Barrier Reef and go scuba diving, Uluru or Katherine or Kakadu in the Northern Territory, The Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Phillip Island in Victoria and Sydney as well to see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

You would have to ignore jetlag. Start in Sydney and you will need at least two days there, preferably three. Take the ferry to Taronga Park Zoo to see Australian wildlife plus some of the best views of Sydney. Go to Bondi Beach, Australia's most famous beach. Take a trip to Watsons bay to lunch at the pub or Doyles. Take a walk through the Argyle Cut to Observatory Hill and the stroll down to the Bridge taking in the Lord Nelson and Hero of Waterloo Hotels and the Garrison Church. Wander round Dawes Point and past the Overseas Pasenger terminal to Circular Quay then on to the Opera House and the Botanic Gardens. If you have time, take a day trip to the Blue Mountains.

After Sydney choose one other spot for two or three days. Alice Springs, the red centre and Uluru or Cairns with the Barrier Reef, the tablelands and the rainforests. In six days you won't have time for anything else.

Sydney - Opera House, Zoo, Aquarium - take the ferry from the quay, Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel for a glass of kick-a ale (ask if the Lord Nelson's Blood ale is available - to die for!) & and pie

Cairns - day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, Tjubakai (sp) cultural center, Kuranda Koala Gardens -hold & have your pic taken w/a koala

Kangaroo Island - 2 day tour - worth every minute; Fairy Penguin tour, watch the huge pelicans being fed

This involves a lot of travel, but it can be done - I know! Been there, done that! in the same amount of time

Agree with rapsson2003, go to New Zealand as well while you're down there. It's only a short, cheap three hour flight from the east coast of Australia (and there is nicer environment there, if you ask me).

The best tourist destination is Queenstown all-round, especially if you're sporty or like the outdoors (bungy-jump, white-water rafting) but Rotorua is also very interesting with a lot of interesting geothermal activity (there are lots of natural hotsprings, and bubbling hot mud pools). Wellington (the capital city) has a great museum and capital cities always have a lot for tourists. Christchurch (largest city in the South Island) has a delightful English flavour and Auckland is the largest city if you want the hustle and bustle of New Zealand's largest metropolitan centre (and lots of lovely green spaces there as well, not to mention a great underwater aquarium called "Kelly Tarltons" and the tallest free-standing structure in the southern hemisphere, the "Sky Tower".)

You are going to be EXHAUSTED!!!

Wow...6 days, I hope you plan on flying everywhere!

NSW Sydney - have to do Opera House..can't not have your pic taken there!

QLD - Great Barrier, Port Douglas

NT - Alice Springs; fly to Eyres Rock (Ulluru) and you MUST also fit in Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) - Eyres Rock is iconic but The Olgas are far more spectacular. You can do both, it's about a 30 minute (?) drive between the two locations.

SA - Coober Pedy; really is a town 'down under' - under ground that is! Opal mining township, The Breakaways (Where films like Mad Max, Mars - the red planet etc were filmed).

WA - I haven't been there yet...I suppose there would be plenty of places to see.

TAS - It's fairly small, go to Devonport, Launceston, Mole Creek caves (King Solomon's Cave etc), Hobart etc

Why dont' you extend your trip and go to NZ as well? Wonderful spot and entirey different to Australia.

It's not worth to go there for only 6 days. You'd better stay at home then.
You'd need at least 3 weeks to get a slight idea of the huge size of this country. You can't simply come here for only 6 days because at least 4 days or even more would make you suffering from the jetlag and then you already have to return.
And by the way, you didn't even let us know WHERE you might go to. Don't you even have an idea about this either?

Well, you really must be Americans - cause only these people ask such questions!

waste of a good trip to come for such a short time,Australia is a big place
