My college professor is Australian but she never says Crikey?

I go to UCLA. My accounting professor is Australian, but I've never heard her say "crikey!" or "crikey matey, it's a bloody crocodile!"
Is she trying to be American?

You are a fool. Steve Irwin is the only person to say that.

Why would she say "its a bloody crocodile" in an accounting class anyway ?

Daisyhill
Well to be honest, my husband is Australian and I have never heard him say "Crikey Sheila...chuck another shrimp on the barbie and open me a tinny!" .do you think he is trying to be Botswanian? I am suspicious of him now...

I don't say 'Crikey'. Sometimes I say 'mate' or 'Gday' but not necessarily together (ie I don't say Gday mate). But not Crikey.

Tim N
Most of us don't say crikey unless we're talking about the news/opinion web site.

no, your cultural ignorance has gotten the best of you..

Power Flower
Crikey!! It must be bloody killing her tryn'ta blend in with your mob! Tell the sheila youse would all still understand her if she speaks in her own tongue. I don't see why she'd be sayin' "it's a bloody crocodile" though.... we only say that when we actually see one.

Aside from Steve Irwin and tragic wannabes nobody utters those words in any normal everyday conversation (or even abnormal conversations for that matter!)

ha, you're hilarious... not.

I reckon it depends where you come from and what the people around you say/use as slang words. I reckon 'crikey' is an outdated saying in Aussie land, but I do know older Aussies you use it.

Australians do have some weird sayings, you're just familar with one or two of the words, probably why you've never picked it up.
