My fiance wants to come to Australia so we can start our life but he has a criminal record is this possible?

The offences are 3 driving while suspended one was a few months ago, Theft by deception he wrote a bad check which was 5 years ago, threatening and intimadation which was 4 years ago they have been the only things that he has been convicted of and he hasnt done anything major within the last 4 years.
Your help would be appreciated Thankyou

More importantly, why are you engaged to a criminal? He probably just wants to get out of the US because of his record, and still all your money.

The guy sounds like a real loser.

Suspended from driving? Theft ? Threatening ? Intimidation ? Anything else? You want to start your life? sounds like you started it ages ago, We have enough crims here dont need anymore.

I actually don't think it is possible if it's in the last 10 years, but don't quote me on that. On that Border Patrol show I've seen them turn people away for having criminal convictions and that was just for a tourist visa, not immigration.
Make sure you find out before he comes, there is nothing more embarrassing than being deported!!!!

When Immigration process your Visas they have many requirements, one of which is a character requirement. Refer to the web address below for all the details. Personally I dont think his charges have been too serious and as long as he is honest to immigration about them then you shouldn't have a problem mirgrating here. Goodluck.

yep ive left
whether he wants to come here or not...please dont bring him...oh but ur welcome :-)

nope i dont think it would be possible, we already got enough crims.
if anyone wants to visit even, a criminal record will go against them ( same as the USA)

Your partner can apply for an Australian fiance visa however he will need to pass the character check for the application to be successful. The key factors are general and criminal conduct. If he has been sentenced to 12 months or more prison time this will be a big problem. You should consult a registered migration agent before you apply who can advise you in more detail.

Horizontal
Shouldn't b a problem as long as he doesn't try to hide it. He should fit in well, half the population are crooks!

I don't see why not...

Not too long ago, the ONLY non-indigenous people in Australia were criminals and their wardens.
