What are the cheapest cities to live and universities to study in new zealand?
Additional Details
Well i noted all your people's feedback thank you very much, as for the last answerer you made your very valuable point but you did not mention the cities or uni's in canada i can try.
N.B. My visa got rejected for Aussie due to fund problems & discrimination. Would they be the same case with Canada and NZ?

You can go to the University of Invercargill in the South Island for free. This was an offer advertised to encourage students to move there.
Otago University to Dunedin in one of the very best Universities in New Zealand, however, it is definitely not cheaper than say Auckland or Palmeston North. Accommodation will definitely be cheaper in the South Island.
Go on line and check on Universities in New Zealand.

I do not recommend NZ to study....go to Australia...the reason: 1- it is small country.....most of their own graduates leave to Australia and other parts of the world...so the result is the prefernce will be given to NZ and local students for getting a job and not foreign students....most good lectureres leave the country due to low pay and bad working conditions comapred to other developed countires..lots of foreign lectureres who are migrants themselves and they get a lot of abuse from NZ students...the economy is highly dependent on tourism and agriculture..so it means you will get ripped off and explioted....you should know you will be there just for your money that you bring in to their system in their opionion not for quality education...read about international students and nz on google news.....if you are really interested to study go to Australia or Canada....at least you do not waste your money and more important that you time and energy....do not forget human being can be more dangerouse than any illness or ailment in this world....as a general rule you are weak as a migrant or as a foreigner.....we are highly dependent on our society and our envirenment for our own safety...future and destiny.....choose your steps carefully in life....do not let other people easily take advantage of you....

Hi there,
discrimination wouldn't happen here, but funding is important. Requirements will be lower than AUS though, so you may succeed here. Dunedin is the cheapest city to live in NZ with the possible exception of Invercargill. Both are nice though, they are only cheaper because they are colder. I suggest Otago Polytechnic and the University of Otago to study.

NZ is the best place to live & study, NZ value their international students - and have a lot to offer their natural citizens as well as visitors to their shore, and there is a multi-cultural society already in place, due to the many visitors who make NZ their home. Otago university offers the best options, and Dunedin is the cheapest place to live - as long as you can handle the cold....good luck in whatever you choose to do

Gotta be the south island - Dunedin I guess, it's famous as a student friendly city and has a good uni. In the north island probably Palmerston North or Hamilton which both have good uni's without being really expensive. Auckland will be the most expensive city for living costs.

Cheapest is Dunedin, next Christchurch.
Both in the South Island

The best place would be Dunedin its so much fun to be a student in Dunedin. It depends what sort of accommdation you are looking at, a hall of resident or flatting. It is alot cheaper than the north island and a lot friendlier
