New Zealanders and Australians! DID YOU KNOW?!?

That Sanitarium, who produce Marmite, Weetbix and many other things is a Church!
They call themselves a church so they don't have to pay tax!
Did you know that?

Actually I didn't that is very interesting. It is not often that I learn something on here but I have today. Thanks

holly
The Sanitarium factory is owned by the 7th day adventist and situated in the village of Cooranbong on the central coast of nsw. They are a registered business and employ many people.

Elizabeth
Yes, and it's got nothing to do with tax evasion. They are decent people who do pay their taxes and employ many workers.
The company was started by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
I believe the company was started over 100 years ago.
They wanted to promote healthy lifestyle and vegetarian food.

If you don't have the facts why spread lies?

Aussie the 2nd
Well you are right in the sense that it is owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church but maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are vegetarians as well...

Andy
lol, thats really clever now Every major oil company just need a church to become tax free !! =D

Nono24
hmmmmmm

purrley
I did, I think they are 7th day adventists. They have a health retreat somewhere in Victoria too.
I think they do pay tax now but initially they didn't. The food sales were a way of increasing church revenue.

don't the people who make olay do the same thing?

Insanity
lol yeah we do, im not religeous but whats wrong with that exactly?

Power Flower
Yes I did know that. But at least they do something useful. My partner has to deal with the Bretheren at the moment and they've got a strict "don't call us, we'll call you policy" as they can't take calls from outsiders so all their outgoing numbers are private. Makes communication really difficult..... but for some strange reason they keep on winning contracts..... they don't pay tax either....
