Cheap winter snow holiday.... Tumut! Fantastic!! Cheap accommodation and just drive your car up the mountain for a family snow trip! Hire everything up the top... its great fun. Good luck :) |

blue moutnains are nice this time of year there are lots of nice B&Bs with open fireplaces etc, also southern highlands are nice, its a bit too cold for the beach so go inland |

An absolutely gorgeous place..... a bit pricey though but you may be able to get a good deal as travel is slow over winter, dont be afraid to bargain with them. Ask for a dinner for 2 to be thrown in free, or buffet breakfast free?....

Try Coffs Harbour, Foster, in the north or Eden in the South for seaside holidays. There is pretty of places in Country N.S.W. such as the Southern Highlands south, west of Sydney Bowral, Mittagong, The Hunter Valley is nice to the west. |

If you're coming after WYD then Sydney is a really nice place, you've got the harbor bridge and the opera house
but other than that,
Port Stephens (Shoal Bay, area)
Blue Mountains
are also nice

have fun |

I might be a bit partiat bacause i live there but there is a little country town, just over the mountains, very pretty, welcoming, relaxing, it's called Oberon and it's not even 3 hours away from Sydney. It's cool, come here. |

I agree that Tumut/Adelong would be great if the kids haven't skiied before. Nearby Mt Selwyn resort is perfect for beginner skiiers/ snowboarders, and is cheaper and more low-key than other resorts. The towns are not "tourist towns" but v pretty this time or year - but rug up!
I know you said NSW but have you considered Canberra? There is so much for kids of all ages to do there. |

Byron Bay of course.. or Yamba. Both are pretty nice in winter and have something for everyone. |
