3. What about Real Estate and Accounting job market?

4. What's the night life like?

5. How far is it from Sydney and Brisbane?

6. Is living pretty expensive in Perth?

7. Are majority of people living in Perth white?

8. Is there a lot to do?

9. Is there a lot of Coffee shops?

10. Is there a lot of gay people there?

11. What is it like living in Perth for you :)?

Hello.
I have lived in Perth my entire life, and know it very well. I will begin by answering each of your questions directly, then add a little comment of my own.
1a) Good for a single female? I suppose that would depend on your perception of "good". It's pretty average.
1b) safe for a single female? well, on the whole it is safer than most major cities in Australia and around the world, but not nearly as safe as being a member of a small town community where everyone watches each other's back.
2) Probably more than I am aware of, but not a lot. The highest percentage of ethnic population is white Australian, followed by people of South East Asian and East Asian appearance, followed by Indigenous Australian.
3) The job market on the whole is in a big boom, with WA being the fastest growing state in Australia. Real Estate and Accounting have not boomed as much as other fields of employment, but are still feeling the wave.
4) The night life has a little bit for every taste, with most people congregating in certain specially designated areas near the towns of Perth and Fremantle cities. concentrations of clubs, pubs and other nightlife services pool in such areas, with the only downside being that incidences of violence are also higher at that time and place.
5) It is too far from Sydney or Brisbane to think about going there unless:
a) you plan to stay on the east coast
b) the cost of a return trip is significantly less than the money earned by going.
c) you absolutely must go, like a close relation has died or something
d) your offered a lift for free
The cost of a one way flight, even if you get economy tickets on special 6 months in advance during the off peak season, will still be in the triple digits. It just goes up from there, sometimes into the quad digits. It's about half the cost to fly to Indonesia.
6) Living is, relatively speaking, far too expensive at the moment, and even the Commonwealth Federal Government are aware of this now and attempting to fix the problem. In almost every respect, Perth is the most expensive city in Australia.
7) The majority of people living in Perth are white, but the difference between the majority and the next largest majority is small.
8) That depends on what you like to do, obviously. Being an urban sprawl with lots of natural bushland and forest areas near the city, I am very happy about being able to walk or cycle in a calming, peaceful environment that is diffferent every time I explore. I am still finding nice natural places near to home that I've never seen.
9) Depends which suburb your in at the time when you want a coffee. In town they are abundant, but because we are so spread out it is more difficult to cover the landscape with coffeeshops the same way Sydney is.
10) Are there a lot of gay people? I assume you mean homosexually active, in which case I believe it is about 5 percent of the population.
11) It's a town of people that always have somewhere else to be. This is because it takes so long to get from where you are to where you want to be, even by car. The public transportation system is one of the top 5 in the world per capita, but because of the distances involved it's users think it is immensely unsatisfactory. This situation is intensified by the high cost of fuel in Perth, and the fact that a large percentage of our state income is from the mining industry, which is inherently way outside of the greater Perth area (meaning more sprawl).

I think you need to do considerably more research, particularly on here by asking very direct and specific questions like your doing, only more specific, and more questions, and separate them into individually posted questions instead of bundling them. Good luck!

1. Perth is very good & safe for a single female (I am a 23 year old female and feel very safe)
2. I know a few Indian people I don't know if there is more or less then other parts of Aust but it is a very multi cultural society in Aust.
3. I used to work in Real Estate and never had a prob finding work.
4. Night life is quieter then bigger cities like Sydney & Melbourne but there is always something to do and somewhere to go.
5. It is about a 4 - 5 hour plane trip to Sydney & Brisbane
6. It is not overly expensive compared to other cities
7. As I said it is a multi cultural country but yes majority are white
8. There is plenty to do especially if you like the outdoors. You don't come to Perth for the shopping though!
9. Yes we have coffee shops
10. Gay people don't tend to walk around with signs on their head but yes there is a gay community
11. I love living in perth and would not live anywhere else. I don't know what it would be like coming here and not knowing anyone though I would advise going out and meeting people and getting a job in a big firm where you will easily be able to make friends.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the move.

yeah Perth's alright, the north of WA is heaps better though.it's a long way from Sydney and Brisbane.i think most places in Australia are reasonabley safe when compared to other countries.there are a few exceptions though. i don't know what gay ppl have got to do with it but i wouldn't state my opinion here anyway.in Australia you can only have an opinion if you are one of the minority groups.any way Perth is a nice place Brisbanes better though.hahalol.

I love answering your questions! I grew up there.

1. Yes. Plenty of eligible bachelors and while it's never completely safe anywhere it's better than lots of places on earth.
2. Not big, not small. Very integrated, I had Indian friends growing up and didn't even really notice they were Indian.
3. Huge. Accounting wise there are quite a few big firms like KPMG and lots of little ones. Real Estate is busy too, it's a growing town, particularly towards the south.
4. Nightlife in the city is a bit trashy, but in Subiaco and Fremantle and other areas it really goes off. So much fun!
5. At least five hours flight.
6. You don't have to pay as much for parking and there are no road tolls. Rent can be quite cheap and you get more for your money that other cities in Aust.
7. Yes, but still a multicultural city, as with all of Australia. Lots of Asians, not many africans.
8. Swimming at the beach, great shopping, sailing on the river, fishing, movies everywhere, wineries down the coast, warm evenings, quite a good alternative music scene. Depends on your interests but yes.
9. Yes, Subiaco, Fremantle, Claremont are just some of the suburbs that have a great coffe culture. They don't have Starbucks (!) but there is a chain called the Dome which is much better. And they have excellent rasberry and white chocolate muffins!
10. Not huge but existant. They have a little Mardi Gras each year.
11. Well I don't live there any more but it is LAID BACK with a beachy culture. Crime happens, you do have to be careful and there are water restrictions, but basically people gloat about how great their lives are being near the beach and having good jobs but not having to deal with Sydney traffic. I had a great education and my parents have always been employed and prosperous.

I love living in perth it's great, you have beautiful beaches, great restaurants, good nightlife and can make great friends, just like anywhere else. You do need to be careful here as with anywhere else. There are gay people around but it's not like there are millions here. This is a very laid back city and all the people are wonderful.

Perth is a safe city which is booming at the moment . It has everything you would expect in a medium sized city. Its main drawback is that it is a very long way from anywhere. It is over 4000km from Perth to Sydney and another 1000km from Sydney to Brisbane. Adelaide is over 2500km east of Perth. It is not as expensive as Sydney, yet, but it is getting there. There are gay people in Perth and it has a small gay scene. Melbourne and Sydney have large gay scenes and a lot of gay people.

1. Yes, all Australian cities are. 2. Don't know 3. Real estate is very expensive and so are rents 4. Don't know 5. Thousands of miles/kilometers 6. Rents are high but they are in all Australian cities at the moment and many goods will be rather more expensive than on the east coast because of transport costs. Also big wages earned in the mining industry will push prices up. 7. Yes 8. Yes 9. Yes 10. Not especially, Sydney is the gay capital. 11. Never been there long enough to answer this

I don't know much about Perth, other than that accountants are paid well there, but from what you'[ve specified I'd say Brisbane is more for you. It has everything you'd be able to find in Sydney and Melbourne, but it's slightly less hectic and less populated. It's more developed as a city than Perth, and contains a significant portion of east asians and Indians. It also happens to be the city that is experiencing the fastest population growth in Australia as well as well as the fastest job growth. It has the highest job demand for qualified workers in Australia, as well as the lowest unemployment rate.

Being on the east coast it's in closer proximity to Sydney and Melbourne. There are heaps of coffee shops in Brisbane, as well as a fairly established nightlife and gay scene.

I love Perth, Very laid back & happy. Safer than the rest of the Cities in Australia, lots of things to do, places to see, nightlife is great. There are many Indians around and I hear the indian community here is quite tight knit. I do accounting, Love it, there is always plenty of Jobs.

Syd / Bris is about a 5 hour flight away. a weeks drive. Living costs aren't too bad, if you are in the accounting industry, the pay is pretty great. many many places to eat / coffee shops etc.

Perth being in Australia (White country) you will expect a majority of the people to be white. Lots of different cultures and races here though. Not any more / less gay people than any other city.

I'm always out and about - especially on the weekends. Clubbing is great. Everyone is friendly and has a good time. Lots of places to shop, Lots of touristy places to go to aswell. House prices aren't too bad if you want to buy either.

If you want to know any more - you are welcome to message me

i dont have an answer for all of your questions, but i do for a few of them, Perth is most definately safe for a single female, i know that the indian population is higher than most places in Australia, but the distance from Perth to sydney or brisbane is quite far, probably a good 1 to 2 days drvie, and about 4 to 5 hours on a plane.
