Please be honest - crime in perth?

hi there. my family and i are considering moving from the uk to australia possibly perth. I have read some sites about aboriginal gangs weilding knives and the crime rates have risen in the perth area, more so in the more well to do areas...is this correct?. Also i have read that there is a problem with gangs in general in perth and violent crimes. Where are the best places to live in Perth? where would u recommend?. please be honest. thanks in advance

Perth is safe and lovely...Just stay away from areas like Balga,Mirrabooka, Nollamara, Westmister.

Crime is everywhere youve just got to be smart and safe,

Somewhere nice to bring up a family would be Balcatta, Joondalup, Mandurah, Leederville.

Hope i helped =D

anything has to better then britain

Badger Licker!!
Hmmm not heard that and I have family that live around Perth and am myself looking to move to Perth in around 3 years time. Like I said ive never heard that!!!

Our crime rate is no better or worse than anywhere else. Ive lived in Rockingham on and off (its where Ive lived for the last 6 years this time) and can highly recommend it! Our beaches are wonderful. Western Australia is a huge place and Perth city is only a relatively small part of it. In my 40 years, all but 10 of them spent right here in the west I personally have never experienced even a break-in.

take a tour on the web at Rockingham 40minutes drive south or Freemantle 20 minutes drive south they are just Beautiful

well i live in the northen suburbs and the crime rate and gangs compared to UK is low (under half as many) i used to live in the uk and walking round the streets of perth compared to uk i feel alot safer, people are alot friendlyer as they say hello.

I moved to Perth a few months ago and I haven't witnessed any crime, or even heard about much arriving. At least there doesn't seem to be any more than anywhere else.
North of the river seems to be a bit richer, As mentioned by Happy=) leederville is pretty good if you want to be near the city.

Why not ask the question on Yahoo OZ? I have been to Australia 2 or three times in Melbourne and Brisbane, I know there is crime, but just how bad??? nowhere is that safe these day's.

good luck
