What should I start off with, acoustic or electric? And what type of price would be right? |

If your aim is Electric then start with one, the necks tend to be narrower and easier to play. Price???? You get what you pay for! Go 2nd hand for the better deal and guitars tend to be looked after anyway.
Feel free to mail me for any advice anytime... |

It depends - an electric guitar will cover a lot of mistakes, therefore you will sound better on an electric guitar more quickly
An acoustic guitar will potential develop your technique better, but you may give up because you are not progressing fast enough
Which ever you get, you need to practise a lot |

If you are serious, don't bother with a 'beginner' guitar, go middle of the range you'll save money. I bought a Epiphone SG for about £200 and it still serves me well today. I started at 16. |

Acoustic is better... and not a hassle like an electric..
You can get cheaper guitars at alot of places.. Some for as low as $80..
What type of music are you into?
A nylon string guitar wont hurt your fingers as much.. So i would suggest a classical guitar to start off with :) My first guitar was a Valencia.. They're pretty cheap.and are pretty good quality.. But then again, if you like strumming more, classical guitar doesnt really sound 100%..
If you would rather strum than pick, then go for a steel string guitar.. At first it will make your fingertips a bit sore, but you'll get used to it after a while..
Talk to the person at your local guitar shop, they can help you alot.. |

acoustic. It sounds beautiful.
keep things simple. one step at a time. |

Electric are easier to play, acoustic are more "portable" (i.e. you can take it with you without lugging an Amp around).
I'd go for an electric first if I were you; you'll learn quicker and enjoy it more. Learning on an acoustic is hard and you'll get disheartened unless you stick at it for a long time.

Acoustic. Steel string / parlour size is one suggestion > http://www.faridaguitars.co.uk/farida_m2.html
Try to learn your basic chords first, then the chromatic scale. As you progress you will develop a style and techniques. Good luck. Enjoy. |

I started on an acoustic because it sounded so lovely.
Electrics are probably easier but you've got to fiddle around with amps.
Which one do you want to play?
I got quite a nice acoustic for £150 ish.
Lasted me a while and was lovely to play |

Acoustic is a great way to get a solid foundation to start with. Everything else will be second nature after that. |

Both!
I bought a cheap electric off ebay (£30), and have also bought an acoustic for £40
They arent great quality, but are brilliant for the price i paid. I am only just getting started too, so they are ideal for what i need |
