no its for low income families with children and aged pensioners

John M
i dont think so

contact centrelink.gov.au for assistance no use listening to people here as they are just guessing as centrelink will have all the correct information for you

zafir
Suggest either you or your parents contact Centrelink to find out the situation as it relates to your family. Some families with a child receiving the Youth Allowance are eligible for the Economic Security Strategy Payment. However, if eligible, the payment will be made to your family, not to you. And it is not a Xmas bonus!

Just ignore Mel's response obviously she has no idea about the people who actually deserve this money. Not all people who will receive these payments are abusing the system.I am not sure whether you will receive the payments but you definitely deserve it.

If you're receiving Youth Allowance as an independent student, you don't qualify for the Economic Security Strategy Payment.

If you are not independent, but receive YA because of your parent's low income, they will receive the payment as they do for any other dependent children.

Mel
No, only pensioners (both aged and parents). And those with dependant children which you have not mentioned.

However, as you are receiving youth allowance, it will also make your parents illegible for the grant.

It is not a christmas bonus, people that abuse the system are a disappointment to Australia.

So sorry, no plasma TV for you this christmas.

It states:::

Single aged pensioners will receive a payment of $1,400 and aged couples will receive $2,100.

Families who are eligible for Family Tax Benefit A will be paid $1,000 for each child, as will those who have dependent children on other benefits, such as YOUTH ALLOWANCE.

Disability pensioners and carers are also eligible for the $1,000 payment.

The first home owner grant will also be doubled from $7,000 to $14,000 and tripled for those buying a newly constructed home.

It's the unemployed that miss out on the bonus.

Edit :::: Wow - I copied and pasted the news article on who gets the bonus and I get all these thumbs down.... interesting.
Look at the source!
