Should Germaine Greer be excommunicated from Australia? |
I vote YES!! Additional Details mellouckili, you obviously don't know what this woman says about her 'supposed' country. She is disrespectful, and should be muzzled. I'm sick to death of hearing her slag off about Australia and it's people, especially lately with what she's said (and continues to say about the late Steve Irwin). She should just mind her own business and move on with her life. Thank God she's living in England, but that still doesn't stop her from getting embroiled in situations that don't involve her in Australia. |

I am totally embarassed by her being linked to Australia. I think that we should all just forget that she was born here. I am sure that her family and friends probably want her to shut up just as much as the rest of Australia.
The comments she made about Steve Irwin were unforgivable.
I heard that she has had her unit in London constantly sabotaged by Steve Irwin fans - GOOD!!!!!!
What has she ever done to make Australians proud - Bloody nothing!!!! |

I vote yes.She is an out of touch old woman who is a sensationalist.
I read an essay she wrote about Crunulla riots. You could tell she didnt have a clue. |

I thought she had already done that herself. She rarely seems to have anything positive to say about her country of birth or it's people. |

She's just a desperate, attention seeking old hag.
Germaine WHO??? |

I think she should stay. She is very funny (unfortunately for her it is by accident) |

yeah, just a pathetic old hag,she tries to sound like some sort of intellectual and champion of women's rights and someone who has an insight into the Australian phyche,A few buy into her crap but i think most Aussies consider her a bitter and washed up old hack |

I think she is a bitter twisted old woman who has a bad case of jealousy. I vote Yes too! |

She does seem to hate the place doesn't she. She seems to have got confused with the politics of Australia and the lovely people's.
So YES....but then she'd ***** and moan even more about you guys so you can't win! grrrrr!
And those horrible things she said about Steve Irwin...honestly this woman has no respect or shame! |

no how ridiculous, she is just a sad old lady and that is all. |

She called John Winston Howard a pismire about ten years ago (literary and contemptuous word for "ant") and for that she gets my vote. She's probably correct about quite a few other things and mistaken about others. As for Mr. Irwin, I couldn't stand him but I'm sorry he died the way he did, he was a lot smarter than a lot of people including me had given him credit. I don't like the way his daughter is being exploited. |

Why I thought she was born In Australia. Well she lives in the UK now, I have seen her in the Oxford Union giving a talk on her book called "The boy" a great book looking at how beautiful the boy is, I think better than the girl, its a pity males can't stay boys forever they are so much nicer than men. I think she might teach art history but I loved her comments on her book, about the fact that in the past it was the boy who was considered beautiful and not the girl, and I say lets have a Master World if we have to have a Miss World. I don't agree with all her views, but I find her a very interesting, intelligent, person.
So why do you want to excommunicate her from her home land? |
|

tentofield
 |
As excommunication is a religious process, you can't excommunicate someone from a country. I like Germaine Greer and she makes a lot of sense. She goes over the top sometimes but what she said about Irwin was very true - and many Australians agreed with her. I cheered the stingray all the way. There are far worse people damaging Australia than Germaine Greer. You can start at the top with Little Lying Johnny.
"What has she ever done to make Australians proud - Bloody nothing!!!! "
Nothing? And you are a woman too! You must be too young to have heard of "The Female Eunuch". |
