I think your patriotism is running away with you. There are great things about every state, these are just friendly banter between Aussies about which state is best. Don't take it too seriously. I love Queensland and I have seen more of it than most people I know. I love it inside out. But now my life is leading me to a new state and I can get to know another part of this great country as well as I know Queensland. Love your State, but love your Country more. Or you will miss much.

So my opinion is, a big NO I don't want Queensland to be a separate country.

Bunkum!! Have you ever been out of Qld? All states are good and all states are part of Oz. I don't think Victorians hate ANY other state. There is a friendly rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney but that's about it.
How do you think Tasmanians feel - they are frequently even left off the map and, personally, I think that is the prettiest state. THEY are the ones who are hopelessly underfunded.

Get a life! I don't want to have to get a passport just to go to a concert in twin towns and that is exactly what you are proposing! honestly think of the hassle it would cause just crossing the street in the gold coast! Also there is no discrepancy in federal funding- that money goes where it is needed most abd what you are proposing would mean that QLD would not get any of that money! I don't know about you but there are a number of federally funded projects in my area that I don't want ended anytime soon!

Because when bidding to be a city to host the Olympics they don't bid country vs country it's city vs city. When Melbourne fell out of the bids for them to host in 2000 they then start voting for another - Sydney -

NSW is the largest state and when the GST is collected by the federal government and is distributed to the other states NSW substitutes Queensland every year

Also if Queensland does become a separate country it just may mean we might leave New Zealand alone.

Are you serious? We would be the laughing stock of the world if we attempted to host the Olympics. The people would be saying "lol what is this country town Brisbane?" J/k, not really, it's not a country town far from it, but seriously we are never going to host the Olympics. (look what happened to the comm. games when in Brisbane - embarrassment to all Brisbanites.

Victorians don't care that Qld will overtake Vic's population, because simultaneous, Melbourne will overtake Sydney's population, go figure.

We aren't under funded. Look at all this development happening in Brisbane. Cross city tunnel network grid, multiple river bridges, new tennis centre. and that isn't just small talk of 'planned' projects, they are all under construction right now.

Sydney and Melbourne deserve to get more money than us, they have more people. Although Sydney can barely support it's self even with all the money it gets, *cough cityrail cough* Sydney/NSW has a corrupt shamble of a government.

EDIT: I agree with the person above me, just imagine passport control and customs whenever you cross the road from tweed heads into coolongatta. Just to go to the local store.
