Both - go to a new place, eat new food .... now that's my comfort zone (btw I'm a foodie). Just don't be a tourist - be a traveller. Go beyond the Hilton Hotels of this world ... whatever ... eat some real food, get a taste for the people, the culture, their passions and what is important to them. Sit, chat and have a coffee. Most don't have a problem sharing a table. That's what travelling is about. I'm sure you'll get back home appreciating what you have and be able to add some 'kicks' to your 'innercity or 'burb' life.

Depends on the holidaymaker. I would choose relaxing but interesting. However some people love a strenuous activity holiday.

Yeah both- but it think if you go somewhere overseas or somewhere thats like more than a couple of hours plane ride-then you should make the most of it and do heaps of challenging stuff- make sure you see everything you can! If just somewhere you drive or Train/Bus - nearby then relax and chill out!

I had 4 weeks in Australia between March and April, I just loved the challenges we had while we were there and the week relaxing at Cairns, I like to see as much as I can and do as much as I can when on holiday with a bit of chill out time thrown in.

Relaxing, I have a super stressful job

I think it depends on what you want to do on your holiday. Some people find holiday is about relaxing because they dont like challenging tasks, or that they do challenging tasks all year round in a job role and want a "holiday", so they relax and that goes for the other way round too.

Everyone has different preferences.

I'd rather relax by the sea in the sun on the soft sand in the day time, have a siesta, go clubbin at night! Now that, to me, is a holiday. x

Depends on what you like to do. If you like to climb mountains and go walking or surfing then plan your holiday round that. If you like to relax on a beach then go for that.

A bit of both.

Does the confidence a world of good

dels replies
They can be either. The main thing is that you are doing something different to all the other weeks of the year. It's the change that does you and your body good.An ideal might be to have two holidays a year, one all action and challenging and the other lazy and relaxing, but it's all down to what suits the individual.

I enjoy both types.

But sometimes you need a relaxing holiday to get over the stress and strains of life, but then i do challenging activities and work all year round, so enjoy that side of things...

I think as i am getting older a relaxing holiday is required, but still three or four times a year i will get away with others and do something challenging like kayaking, mountain climbing, sailing etc etc...

After being dragged through, and enduring biking/hiking/snorkelling and climbing - travelling to and from an island 7 hours flying by my partner - mate........
I had a ball, but at the same time asked myself, "would not a dose of poison have sufficed "(without leaving home?)

Relaxing thats why you take a holiday to relax.
