I have travelled this great land extensively over the last 45 years..
My favourite area is Darwin in the Northern Territory. Unique, Australiana at it's best, and sometimes worst :)
You will be captivated by the sights; wildlife; people; places to visit (such as Kakadu National Park)
The best time, and really the only time to visit, unless you like the hot, very humid weather is winter (Jun-Aug here), and even then the temps are in the low 30's Celcius.
There are many, many places worthwhile visiting in Australia, however, to get away from the usual city environment and the hugely popular eastern seaboard, you will be glad to visit the Top End! |

if you come to Australia spend a little time in the cities but see if you can get a car and do some driving.Get out and experience the smaller towns and coastal areas to get a real feel for the country as i have traveled a lot and cities are cities whever in the world. We have great beaches aspecially in southern NSW anyway if you come you will have a great time its a very safe country. |

I have always wanted to go to Australia! Go, totally! If you have the opportunity, don't waste it: you will regret it later if you don't go. |

I went to Aussie in the 7th grade for 6 months. It was such a fun experience, and if you're anything like me, im sure you'll have a blast too. The people there are nice- its a really friendly environment. There's so much things you can do there as well. I would recommend going to New South Wales (that's where i went). Its soooooo gorgeous there.
If you do go, try some fish n' chips & gelato.
Hope that helps, and have funn! :D |

well south east of Australia has most of the big cities, it also has nice beaches, and good weather...I'd suggest going there. it's a safe country, and judging from the Australians I've met, they seem to be friendly people. |

Depends how long you've got to see the place.
Start off in Sydney and go see the icons such as the Harbour Bridge, Opera House etc. [you can do these in one morning and go for a ride on one of the ferries up the harbour as well]. I lived in Sydney for 33 years and still miss the harbour - it's absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of places to eat and drink along the quay too [called Circular Quay].
Next you should branch out a little and either go to Melbourne [2nd largest city] in the south, or to Brisbane in the north if you prefer hot weather.
Personally I think Tasmania is the best but then I'm biased but it is a beautiful part of the world and "Tassie" has the most spectacular food at reasonable prices.
It really depends on what you're looking for, be it a wild time in the warmer weather or beautiful scenery, or outback experience. We've got it all.
Get some brochures from a travel agent and have a look at what takes your fancy and work from there. Remember it is a very big country and you can't see it all. Good luck and happy holiday. |
