Am I allowed to go outside the airport and look around Hong Kong, or do I have to stay in the airport? |

HK is about 45 Minutes by fast train from the Airport, but you need to calculate at least an hour in the Q for immigration (both ways).
Theoretical you could leave the Airport, but it is not really worth it as 7h is cutting it VERY close. Also there is not really much to see in only 3h (taking 4h for the Q and the train).
Just chillax, they have good massages (and I mean the normal real one, not the OTHER one) at the Airport. |

Remember in Hong Kong the airport is on an island and you have to take a bus or train onto the main island which can take some time with traffic, so you would only have a couple of hours free, but HK disney is on the same island as the airport! |

Check with your airline. If you're on one single flight with a stopover, then you're in transit. If you're changing from one flight to another - and I suspect this might be the case with you, since seven hours is a long stopover - then you're not in transit.
If you are classed as being in transit, then no, you're not allowed out of the airport. As you get off the first leg of your flight, you are immediately escorted through check-in procedures (i.e. security etc) for the next leg of your flight, and then you just wander around the airport.
However, if you're not classed as being in transit, then you're free to leave the airport and do what you like. But, bear in mind that you'd need to be back at the airport two hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight leaving you with only five hours, so I'm not sure how far you'd get or what you'd be able to do. |

i believe you have a stop over of more than 8 hours to be able to leave the airport. but check with the airline, or hong kong immigration. |

you have to stay in the airport. you are only in transit. i had to do this a couple of times. but the most i stayed was three hours. It's a killer. it's horrible cos you just want to get to your destination! but hongkong airport is excellent! it's much better than the UK ones (if you are leaving from there). And the views pretty cool. |
