It depends which part of the UK you're from.
Sydney is a bustling city with historical buildings, huge parks and gardens and beautiful beaches.

Brisbane is much more laid back and the aussie joke about brisbane is that it's behind in the times.

I personally love sydney. There are just so many different lifestyle choices to choose from.

For someone from the UK, I would have to say Sydney. For people from my country (SA), I would highly recommend Brisbane. Good luck and enjoy Australia.

I PICK SYDNEY .

Sydney is very expensive if you're wanting to buy you're own place to live. Brisbane is much cheaper in that respect. Personally, I prefer Sydney - Brisbane's far too humid for my liking. Like the other person said, if you want theme parks, go Brisbane etc.

Mel
I would choose Sydney, it will be a lot easier to adapt to our weather and lifestyle if you start off in Sydney. Once here you can holiday around and see where you want to move to later on.

sydney but u will have to be very careful around lebanese muslims as they don't seem to like anyone who doesn't kiss camels

btw i live in sydney. if you want best scenery...go sydney

if you want the best theme parks in the world...go brisbane

if you want the longest sandy beaches and best undersea scenery...go brisbane

if you want penguins...go antarctica.

I went to Sydney first, then moved up to Brisbane.

I prefer Brisbane, it is actually cooler in my part of Brisbane (in Summer), than it was in my part of Sydney ! It surprised me too.

It does depend on exactly where, in both areas, that you go to.

Both Sydney and Brisbane have got good points.
but...
Sydney East versus Sydney West = East
Brisbane East versus Brisbane West = East

Sydney West versus Brisbane East = Brisbane East

In my opinion ;)

I live in Brisbane, so I'm a little biased.
Sydney is alot busier. If you are a socialite, then you'd probably like sydney.
Brisbane has nicer weather. Mild winters. Warm/Hot summers.
And I'd say it's alot more laid back than Sydney.
Brisbane has the Sunshine coast an hour north, and the Gold Coast an hour south, which is great for a day trip or weekend away.
It probably rains alot less in Brisbane too.
