Sydney or Melbourne? Want to relocate!?

Sydney definitely has better weather than Melbourne. Both have very similar lifestyles. Personally, IÂ´d choose Sydney.

That's not an easy question to answer without knowing what sort of experience you are after. You will get different arguments from people in both places. Melbournites will tell you that they live in the culture capital of Australia while Sydney people will talk all day of their Harbour complete with bridge and opera house.
If you are moving from North Eastern England, Melbourne will probably be an easier climate for you to adjust too (ever hear Crowded House's "Four Seasons in One Day"?)
Sydney has all the hustle and bustle being the largest city in Australia.
I'd take into consideration how long you plan to be over in Australia. If it was 1-2 years, personally I'd look at Sydney to try and get the most out of it. If it was longer I'd consider Melbourne for the lifestyle. Heck.... you can always go to Sydney for long weekends or holidays.

I've live in melborune all my life it is a great place to live in. Nice and quiet place, ideally a great place to settle down and start a family.

Sydney, you'll love it, the work will be very steady and you'll have more opportunity to pick and choose a position and the wages are higher. Sydney's very 24/7 if you want to live in the city. The streets are safe to walk and people are all very social and gay friendly. It's warm and sunny 12 months of the year during winter it's around 19c in the day and can get down to 8c at night. Most all of the time it's 25c day - 14c night During summer 30c day- 19c at night so you can still tan during the day in winter and enjoy sitting in the sun outside a cafe without freezing. At night sit by a fire having a few lagers and a meal in the pub. You can go up or down the coast for a weekend away short holiday or out to the blue mountains or catch a ferry around the harbor. The only bad thing I can say about Sydney is you suffer lack of sleep, with so much to do a lot of hospital workers from St Vincents Hospital Sydney live in my building and belive me I know how you all like to have a drink after work and party and rush with two minutes to spare to get to work. Well whatever you decide welcome to OZ. We need more trained nurses and Rn's here really badly. Cheers.

Neither! I'm from Australia and have lived here all my life. If you're coming here I definitely definitely recommend going to the Gold Coast or somewhere in Queensland. The Gold coast has perfect whether pretty much all year round. Melbourne and Sydney both get very cold in the winter. Melbourne is really historical with lots of old buildings so probably better for older people, although there are alot of trendy places and its more fashion focused.

Sydney is really good for eating out and going to bars and clubbing. Its the gay capital of Australia and probably better suited for your lifestyle. All the models go there as its the best place to find work because its also quite fashion focused.

If you want great weather and great clubs go to brisbane (1 hour north of the gold coast)

Why not take a holiday out there and see Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Then you can decide. My brother moved to Brisbane and loves it there. There are problems with very dry spells (restricted on what water they can use) and the risk of fire. Another problem is you just can't get the same stuff you can get here. However, he has found the people friendly and has taken up duel nationality in Australia. So my advice would be to have a holiday out there.

Save your time and your money kid. After a couple of months you will want to come back, They all do. I have traveled more than you and I have never met a person who likes Australia for more than a couple of weeks.
