Tasmania and passports question...?? HELP!!?
My mum want to go to Tasmania but her passport just expired. Does this matter?
She isnt an Australian citizen but she is a Legal Resident and married to a Aussie citizen if that matters. been living here for 7 years....
thanks!! Additional Details Thanks for the answers, its as i thought.
If she's in Australia at the moment, of course she doesn't need a passport to go to Tasmania. Tasmania is an Australian state with EXACTLY the same status as NSW or any of the other states. Of course, if she wanted to visit Tasmania from outside Australia, she would need a passport.
He's gone fishing.
LOL, people should need a passport to travel to Tasmania, but you don't need one, lol. If you are in Australia you do not need one, however if you are from overseas you do. Tasmania is connected to mainland Australia under the ocean. I love Tassie, but the people are a bit different. I love red licorice too, yummmm.

I hope this is a joke question...if not you need to pay more attention in Geography. Tasmania is a state of Australia so you don't need a passport. It is the same as flying from Sydney to Melbourne. These days you don't even need to show ID if you check yourself in at those self-serve kiosks at the airport.

A flight from any point on the Australian mainland to any point in the state of Tasmania is a domestic flight and thus passports are not needed. Enjoy Tassie. Its great.
