The American one is a very poor imitation of the Aussie one and without Sharon one of the main characters in the Aussie version it just doesn't work. |

Are you serious?
The American one is the ****. The only reason you found the American one funny is because the humour had to be dumbed down so you guys could understand it. |

You're fully entitled to your opinion but I don't agree.
In my opinion the US version is just an extremely poor imitation of the show.
There is nothing satirical or funny about it.
It's what always happens when the US try to copy a show from either Britain or Australia.
They just don't get it and miss the point completely.
What's the US version of "Thank God You're Here" like?
I hope it's better than their attempt to copy Kath & Kim.
Edit: Also as has already been asked in another answer, "Where is Sharon?" |

The American version didn't last in Australia, it was taken off the air after only a couple of episodes because the ratings went into the negatives with it!
I've heard this has also happened in other countries as well, your the first person I've heard of that actually liked the American version.
I didn't like either of them personally and didn't really see either as being better than the other. |

Are you serious? I saw the American one and I thought it was a really sad version. And I was really disappointed because I love the Ameican version of the Office! |
|

FFS what's with the names?
|
Each to their own.
The US one didn't rate well in the US or Australia and is no longer being made after only one series.
The Australian version sold something like seven series here, and then a big US outfit bought the rights to make it in the US, so the creators made a lot of money from it.
So in terms of commercial success, very few people would agree with you.
Cheers :-) |

no way the aussie one is the best. but i do think that once they went to channel 7 the aussie show got worse but not nearly as bad as the american one. |

I'm sorry but I hate the American version of Kath & Kim. I really can't stand it! I have to agree with all the other answers. |

He's gone fishing.

You have to put the show into perspective, It is meant to be 'Dumb'. It is a comedy. The show is a dig at us Aussies for the Aussie things we do, the way we speak etc. I think some humour is specific to the country. I haven't seen the American one so I can't comment. I find a lot of American humour funny with the exception of 'Seinfeld', I fu#king hate that show. |

I hate the american Kath and Kim. I hate Kath and Kim full stop, however I watched one episode of the American Kath and Kim and thought that it was just a whole lot worse than the original. It was not funny, it had become something else. I thought that they may as well have namned it something else. It was no the Kath and Kim that I knew and hated. |

Yeah, you guys thought it was so stupid and dumb that you bought the rights and made a very poor, pale copy.. Just like your second rate copies of Steptoe and Son (Chicko and the Man), Man About the House (Threes Company) The Office and a bunch of other ones that I can't be bothered bringing up. We can just be thankful that Jennifer Saunders has some standards and you lot didn't get your mucky mutts on Ab Fab!!!!! |

Australians and Americans have their own sense of humor.
I'm Australian and HATED the American one,it was just so obvious.
But Americans generally wouldn't understand Aussie humor like Kath and Kim, The Castle, etc... |

Just an observation - you reeeeeally shouldn't be asking this in the Australia section. Australians are very loyal and, even if the American version is better (which it certainly isn't), they would never admit it. |
