As someone suggested Cricket is always fun if you have the yard!

Baking Anzac cookies with the kids!

Watching Skippy reruns!

Watching a Remembrance DVD

Theres endless board games that are fun for adults and kids alike!

Australia day games day ie thong throwing, lamington eating contest, pitch a tent the fastest, A-Z of Aussie items - ie you have to write an Aussie item for each letter of the alphabet.

Aussie artists Cd's playing ie John Farnam (haha I dont know how to spell his last name!).

Colouring sheets for the kids of Aussie Animals/icons and or dot painting for them to do.

Bush Dancing.

I am in the same position. We are having the barby with seafood etc, but I plan to play only Australian music, put up some flags everywhere and get flag tattoos from the $2 shop for whoever wants them. I have also talked my partner into reciting some A.B. Patterson, and I may pitch in with Mulga Bills Bicycle. Of course pav is on the menu!

like get really into it dude; go fancy dress-Aussie theme, thong throwing, gumboot throwing, new flag designing comp, BBq of course, cricket, aussi song karioke or "name that tune" didge playing, boombarang throwing. Break out the lamingtons, the pavlovas, meat pies. trivia game wth Aussie Qs. come on ausse come on. oi oi oi!

JJJ hottest 100 and lots of good Australian white wine

Why not just communicate with each other and get closer bonds. This is cheap and can be done sitting down. Enjoy the day.

You could have a game of backyard cricket, or have some toad races!! I think the main thing with home bbqs on australia day is to eat your lamb and drink the beer!
