Travelling around Australia Alone?

I am thinking about back packing around Australia. I will be doing it alone. I am a single female and need a change.

Do you think it would be safe to do this?
Has anyone else done this or travelled around Australia that could offer some advise on what to take and where to go...or not go?

Is anyone interested in comming with me maybe?

Adding to what other people have said about people dangers, there is another, deadlier danger. The outback itself.

Australia is a BIG place. Too many backpackers grossly underestimate its vastness and extreme weather and harshness of the country - to their regrets.

There are news of people getting lost and have to be rescued regularly. Ill prepared backpackers with little skill to survive the outback and the long distances are common. And worse - they never tell people where they are going.

NOT a good idea to travel alone in Australia IF you don't know the place. It is BIGGER than you think.

PLEASE - do not underestimate our outback. Too many foreign tourists have died out there.

Plan ahead well.

Have a good trip.

Cairns in North Queensland is a very tourist spot. Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and always a night life.

Also take a look at- http://www.aussiebackpacker.com.au
They put out in print, a free handy little booklet on 'Oz on a Budget' with heaps of coupons inside!

Enjoy your trip.

I suggest you don’t do it alone.
There are a lot of arseholes out there. You should be with at least 1 friend, preferably a male friend, but female if you want. Safety in numbers.

If you’re with a guy friend then people that are likely to hassle you would leave you alone, assuming that he is your boyfriend/ partner / etc.

I know many people that have travelled around Australia, and they also recommend you do it with others, It is also useful in case there is an emergency, E.g you have an accident.

You need to go down the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Great Australian Bight in South Australia, Fremantle or Perth in Western Australia, Gulf of Carpentaria Northen Territory, and Manly / Bondi / Palm Beaches in New South Wales.

Have fun and stay safe!

I recommend to go in a group of at least 5. It's not a place you want to be alone. How can you have fun alone anyway?

ll_jenny_ll here
The chances are that you WOULD be fine ... BUT .. as others have said .. there are some ar$eholes out there and JUST incase it would be good to travel with mates.. AND more fun.

here is a link that you may find useful...
